The spiritual advisor of the Schindlers, Bro. O'Donnell, said the Dept. of Children and Families has had a new physician examine Terri and that "he DID go into her room and WAS at her side and DID observe her."
Department of Children and Families, are the department if someone is being physically abused, or the elderly, and "they have the authority" to take her into protective custody.
He continued, "what is being done to her now constitutes" that, and that DCF should "be taking her into protective custody."
Cooper: "Aren't people being taken off feeding tubes all the time?" Brother O'Donnell: "When they're DYING. But she was not dying. She could live another 20, 40 years."
"She's the only person who has been COURT ORDERED to have her tubes removed. Not 'The guardian MAY" but the guardian 'shall' remove her tubes."
CNN checked on the facticity of this last claim, and found that "There is ONLY ONE other case, Nancy Beth Cuzan in which the court ordered the tube MUST be removed."
Dr.Sanjay Gupta says if Terri is in the minimally conscious state, her eyes open spontaneously. She must do one of the following: --follow simple commands (to show she can hear and understand) --give yes or no responses
"This is just their big test case. Very, very soon we are going to witness a case in which Terri's death is cited as how we should not kill people -- oh, how much better it is, they will opine, to simply put them to sleep. I have already seen statements on this very board saying just that. For the Death Cult this is merely the stepping stone to wholesale marketing of "peaceful and responsible" death."
You definitely 'get it' workerbee!
"I remember that with a root canal -- couldn't get any drier. That's why I don't understand anyone that thinks this a natural way to die -- it is horrible."
Absolutely. A lot of people can relate to this I think.
I believe she is also on heavy duty morphine, which if you or I were under, we'd be doing nothing either.
Um, yes - this is the guardian, Pearse, who recommended not to pull the feeding tube. (he was dismissed because he was morally against pulling all feeding tubes)
He didn't want her tube pulled even though he could never elicit a response from Terri (he must not have figured out the trick of touching her right cheek and neck that makes her smile, no matter who does it.)
If you notice, this man, who sides with Terri's parents, all but rolled his eyes at the outrageous claims of Carla Iyer sitting next to him.
At one point he almost laughed. Then, he proceeded to completely contradict her, and basically say what (I hope) we all know damn well - Carla was one of those nurses Michael ticked off because he was so demanding that her care be above the standard care. She probably got yelled at for slacking off. (though her other claims make me wonder if she isn't just mentally unstable.)
Carla Iyer is the source of the claims that Michael said things like,
"is the bitch gonna die?"
"can't you speed her death"
"I'm gonna be so rich when she dies"
...and the insulin vials left in trashcans,
saying Terri sat at the nurses station and visited with nurses and visitors, interacted every day - was always very aware ...
Michael insisted she have no cloths in her hands, yadda yadda... he was so neglectful (the guardians all said the other nurses said the opposite).
As the judge noted, Carla said she was sneakily calling and telling her family all these things (they apparently forgot to mention it to anyone - including the court - didn't even try to call her as a witness at the major 2000 trial)
She says there was a huge conspiracy going on, and she got fired because she reported it to the police "even tho they say there were other reasons, I know that was it."
And freepers just repeat every outrageous claim of hers - IN BOLD!!! They pretend to see nothing odd at all about hers and trudy's affidavits. They soak it up and spread it around - just like Hammesfahr, who even Glenn Beck ended the interview with because he said he got a feeling the guy was not on the up and up.
It's demeaning. Demeaning to those who close their eyes to obvious lies as long as the lies come from those who side with her parents, and demeaning to this web site that prides itself on vetting the facts.
On any other topic, Carla Iyer and that Dr Hammesfahr would be utterly raked over the coals here for the obnoxious liars they are.
That so many have sold their integrity, thinking that doing so goes unnoticed and not realizing that it throws *everything* said into doubt is truly sad.
I don't know if Terri is PVS or not. My history shows my concerns about this case. But the lies spread here are just a crying shame. I've quit reading most threads because I can't bear to lose respect for people I once thought actually cared about facts more than hysterical rumor-mongering.
And those of us who can't stand the lies, no matter how we feel about the ultimate question, are demonized and accused of wanting Terri to die.
I'm going back to bed.
She deserved a workup. Take a hike and kill some animals if you must.
"And those of us who can't stand the lies, no matter how we feel about the ultimate question, are demonized and accused of wanting Terri to die."
Well do you want her to live? DO you?
Well, duh! Today was Day 6 of her starvation & dehydration. How active would you be after 6 days of no food or drink? Especially since she began her starvation in an already debilitated neurological state. State-ordered murder. I'm sure she's as weak as can be. Savage said it's like watching a murder in slow motion.
i thought I read that Jodie's mm worked for Rice for 10 years. I know that the human debris also known as Michael Schiavo was hired by Rice in October before he was elected as a Republican State Senator. That gags me to say that.
Why don't you read my profile and history?
I'm sick of repeating myself.
As soon as he (and the younger two) was born, the first thing I asked for was FOOD.
"the human debris also known as Michael Schiavo was hired by Rice in October before he was elected as a Republican State Senator. That gags me to say that."
Don't let it gag you. The demonrats don't have a monopoly on sick behavior. Especially in Florida apparently.
and why don't you...
oh never mind it's not worth it.
Usually a patient is diagnosed and then treated.
In Florida, those who attempt murder can get their victim/patients executed and then cremated.
May they all starve themselves.
The question is what did Terrie want? Her foolish husband doesn't have a clue, so why should we look at that?
Hi Petronski-- we're on the same page here. Both in the sense of the ferrous metals in the body/MRI and Terri's situation.
What I was trying to say (not very well) was that while O.O. suggested ferrous metal embedded in the bone would not come flying out of the body when the MRI magnet is activated, I believe it could cause the part of the body attached to the metal to go slamming into the MRI machine. For example, if the titanium plate in my neck were made of a ferrous metal, when the MRI was activated, the plate probably would not be pulled from my body. But the metal plate would be attracted to the machine, and propel my neck and head to the machine at a very high rate of speed. Most like resulting in a severe head trauma.
So do we know if her implants/electrodes are ferrous or non-ferrous in nature? And even if non-ferrous, they can impact on the image quality. (I think it was referred to as 'artifact'). If the implants/electodes can be removed prior to an MRI, they should be. Even a PET scan or a more recent CT would be of value. IMHO
Ice chips never tasted so good either -- to this day when I am sick, I have a glass of water beside me with ice -- a lot of chipped ice from the ice maker.
I just want these people that say it is so easy to go even 24 hours without food or water and see how they feel.
Good for you, let's getter done!!
It's JUST been given to the Supreme Court!! It's an emergency stay to have the feeding tube reinserted.
PRAY!!!
Justice Kennedy will be the one who decides if He will grand a stay or not.
Susan Estrich thinks they will give NO opinion and deny it.
TLawrence Tribe: "...If he said she wanted to avoid tubes it would be a violation of her rights to keep her on them.
"But, if she didn't say this, it is a violation of her rights to deprive her of the the rights to get nourishment
the Federal District Court,it's not their fault because the parents lawyer didnt raise the issue. Her intent on this is where the record is much less clear." [and might have a chance]
Good question, not one I would want to treat me.
