Um, yes - this is the guardian, Pearse, who recommended not to pull the feeding tube. (he was dismissed because he was morally against pulling all feeding tubes)

He didn't want her tube pulled even though he could never elicit a response from Terri (he must not have figured out the trick of touching her right cheek and neck that makes her smile, no matter who does it.)

If you notice, this man, who sides with Terri's parents, all but rolled his eyes at the outrageous claims of Carla Iyer sitting next to him.

At one point he almost laughed. Then, he proceeded to completely contradict her, and basically say what (I hope) we all know damn well - Carla was one of those nurses Michael ticked off because he was so demanding that her care be above the standard care. She probably got yelled at for slacking off. (though her other claims make me wonder if she isn't just mentally unstable.)

Carla Iyer is the source of the claims that Michael said things like,
"is the bitch gonna die?"
"can't you speed her death"
"I'm gonna be so rich when she dies"

...and the insulin vials left in trashcans,
saying Terri sat at the nurses station and visited with nurses and visitors, interacted every day - was always very aware ...
Michael insisted she have no cloths in her hands, yadda yadda... he was so neglectful (the guardians all said the other nurses said the opposite).

As the judge noted, Carla said she was sneakily calling and telling her family all these things (they apparently forgot to mention it to anyone - including the court - didn't even try to call her as a witness at the major 2000 trial)

She says there was a huge conspiracy going on, and she got fired because she reported it to the police "even tho they say there were other reasons, I know that was it."

And freepers just repeat every outrageous claim of hers - IN BOLD!!! They pretend to see nothing odd at all about hers and trudy's affidavits. They soak it up and spread it around - just like Hammesfahr, who even Glenn Beck ended the interview with because he said he got a feeling the guy was not on the up and up.

It's demeaning. Demeaning to those who close their eyes to obvious lies as long as the lies come from those who side with her parents, and demeaning to this web site that prides itself on vetting the facts.

On any other topic, Carla Iyer and that Dr Hammesfahr would be utterly raked over the coals here for the obnoxious liars they are.
That so many have sold their integrity, thinking that doing so goes unnoticed and not realizing that it throws *everything* said into doubt is truly sad.

I don't know if Terri is PVS or not. My history shows my concerns about this case. But the lies spread here are just a crying shame. I've quit reading most threads because I can't bear to lose respect for people I once thought actually cared about facts more than hysterical rumor-mongering.

And those of us who can't stand the lies, no matter how we feel about the ultimate question, are demonized and accused of wanting Terri to die.

I'm going back to bed.

Well do you want her to live? DO you?

You apparently have a problem with someone who is morally opposed to pulling the tubes but take no issue with a neurologist that has a history of euthanasia advocacy being heavily relied upon by the court and was hired by Michael Schiavo.

And why wouldn't Carla Iyer be discussing the problems with Terri's parents? Besides, if the husband was expecting care above the standard and she was slacking, why would she go through the trouble she did to contact the police and Terri's parents? Also, her testimony has been corroborated by two other nurses who do not know her.

So because you accuse others of blindly believing those who side with Terri's parents, couldn't the same be said of you? Michael is hardly credible, himself. What exactly is it that you trust in this man?

And the neurologist that you claim to be incredible (boy everyone is!!) is a Nobel Prize nominee - not exactly considered a hack. Now the latest neurologist to see her has suggested that she may have been misdiagnosed. He is from the Mayo Clinic and is widely renowned. Another incredible hack?

I am afraid that you are the one who is blindly following - whatever makes your ideology work, I suppose.

Today is yet another difficult day in the lives of the Schiavo family.

I see the anguish on the parents faces and frankly I see it on her husband. He character is not stellar but I do believe that his actions are as honorable as her parents.

From what I have read her husband spent several years after the accident making sure Terri would get the care that he hoped would bring her back to him. The sign of a loving husband. Perhaps at the time he was denying her wishes to selfishly keep her alive because he could not let go. I have heard many on each side point out that it might be true but are colored by his actions now. Her parents had in the past years ago felt that their son-in-law was doing right by their daughter.

I can understand the motives on both parties. Yet, to get congress involved, oh wait that is for another discussion later. Congress gave an opportunity to have the records reviewed they DID NOT demand the court act a certain way but the Schindler supporters were angry. It is like if they do not like the court order then you find another court and try again.

Earlier I had heard that Gov. Bush had given a presser that protective services was entering the picture. After 15 years wow, come on, what took so long. Why is more important now then 2 years ago? Then another doctor came into the picture and he offered the Gov some new info that said that she is not vegetative status, where was he the last 7 years. Frankly it is disturbing that we all can read about the folks who saw them but none have come on the record to support their side. Could it be if she had been incorrectly diagnosed that a person can get sued. I do not know but it is something to consider.

We would want to do all we can if it were our loved one. Yes, but at some point it must end. One side will be very sad in the end and it is heart wrenching.

These are my thoughts as of today. I always keep an open mind. I cannot see into the marriage of the Schiavos marriage or relationship she had with her parents but in the end she is his wife and it is his duty and honor to in fact honor her. Frankly I do not see either party doing it for Terri. It is for the parents a body to visit, to talk to but not to reply. The husband wants to move on with his life, it is about him. What were Terri's wishes? She had told friends and her husband that she would not want to be maintained in such a fashion.

It reminds me of when a loved one dies. Those surviving the deceased have to deal with the loss, we have funerals to honor those we love and we gather to talk about the loved one but it is not for the deceased but for the person(s) left behind.

He is doing just that. I know he his character is less then desirable and yes he has found comfort with another woman. Again, if this were me I would not want my husband to stop smelling the flowers, enjoying our pups' living in the past.

Finally, I am all for states rights. I am glad that Gov. Bush took interest in the last time of the feeding tube not be reinserted. He gave time for a review and that has occurred. I am outraged with Congress. I believe in the separation of powers. It is not it's place to stick it's nose into the issue of Ms. Schiavo.

I wonder if her families lawyers had said to the courts that she did not get the care they thought she would have had and we much offer that care based on what they know now. Like getting the PET scan. Like trying exercises. It seems like that could be the stronger argument as it results to her case.

I can tell you what tears me up. We have excelled in the area of machines keeping our bodies alive. I realize that are times when someone comes our of a long coma but it is rare. Her feeding tube is not a machine but she cannot tell you if she is hungry so for me it is a machine keeping her alive. I actually learned today that having feeding tube is a life saving machine.

This is my personal opinion. I believe in life. I believe in states rights. Lastly, I believe in the bond of marriage and that my spouse if alive will make decisions as it pertains to my life when I cannot.

And as usual we can agree to disagree with respect and kindness.

My prayers go to Terri and all those who love her.
