Pinellas Park police Lt. Kevin Riley, standing upper right, prepares to arrest members of the Keys family as they were attempting to bring Terri Schiavo water Wednesday morning, March 23, 2005 outside the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. The Keys family, of Burnet, Tex., kneeling, from left, Josie, 14, Gabriel, 10, Chris, the children's father, and Cameron 12, were all taken into custody. Galen Keys, upper left, the children's mother looks on, but was not arrested. The mother insists it was the children's idea: "I am proud of them," said the boys' mother Geilen Keys from Texas, who was not arrested. "They are very mature and they said 'we want to go and offer some water to Terri'."

Pinellas Park police Lt. Kevin Riley, second from left, handcuffs 14-year-old Josie Keys, left, while Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies place her father Chris in the back of a van after arresting members of the family for trespassing Wednesday morning March 23, 2005 outside the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. The family members were attempting to bring Terri Schiavo a cup of water.

Gabriel Keys (foreground) is arrested by police officers for trespassing in Pinellas Park, Florida, March 23, 2005. The young protester attempted to take a glass of water into the Woodside Hospice for the brain-damaged Terri Schiavo. A federal judge rejected a request from the parents of Schiavo to order her feeding tube reinserted, dealing a blow to attempts by the U.S. Congress and the White House to prolong her life.

Thanks to everyone who pointed out that it's spring break. (I'm a homeschooler, and I really don't pay attention to those school breaks).

I'm curious - how does someone look Pentecostal?

They are being schooled. They are learning about injustice.

I assume with your nick you are LEO. As you know, almost every department requires handcuffs across the board during any arrest. You also know that the police are simply following orders and have no say in and if they can arrest in situations like this.

Yes it look bad placing children in cuffs. Yes it does not do much for community relations, however, these officers are following standard officer safety rules and should not be slammed for doing their job.

It looks like the girls have uncut hair, and they are wearing long skirts.

The boys are wearing long pants (as opposed to shorts).

Spring Break - ahh the time when many college students and high school students gather on the beaches and pull all night sex orgies, run around naked or nearly so, have drug fests, and participate in all sorts of commotion causing activities - and everyone says that is okay. Parents give them money to go and they go wild.

These kids are spending time offering water to the thirsty. "When I was in thirst, you gave me drink." And they are hand-cuffed and arrested??? Our society is simply sick.

Thank goodness things didn't get too out of hand and a child was injured. In a small way, this reminds me of WACO reversed - in that it is becoming so explosive wrong decisions by some could lead to utter disaster. Especially if Terri passes before the Supreme Court makes a decision, which it seems is the parent's next step.

On both sides there are such strong feelings. I pray there are no weapons on the scene. Some wacked-out druggie or idiot could really take advantage of all the confusion there. I just do not see any comfortable conclusion to this for anyone.

They don't appear to be in school at all, at the moment.

I disagree. I see three kids getting a very dark education on the moral climate in this country.

In DMTW's opinion, anybody who takes exception to this woman's state-sanctioned murder is a far-right extremist.

Cooler heads take their fascism lying down, apparently.

Meanwhile, in Naples, FL a woman who shot and killed her neighbor's chihuahua was sentenced to 30 days in jail. In other words, it's a crime to kill an animal but okay to starve a human to death. Where's the sense in this?

Chihuahua's slayer says she was terrified --- fired 2 warning shots with shotgun

They almost certainly are. There's no way in heck that they did this on their own intitiative because this is a belief they themselves hold. Far more likely, they're like the ubiquitious kids I see at anti-abortion rallies - there because Mommy is an activist. They may not even understand the issue.

I will mention that, judging from the way these kids are dressed, it's pretty apparent they're not your run-of-the-mill teens. They may "understand" the issue as well as the average emotion-fueled onlooker.

Regardless, I would not allow my kids to do this. Kids do not belong in the middle of this. They belong on the sidelines, either listening to or watching their parents take their stand on the front lines.

The most disturbing thing about the whole Schiavo mess is the number of jackasses who are using it as an opportunity for a publicity stunt. There are way to many screeching nutters on both sides of this issue.

You don't understand the power of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of Christian children. It is awe-inspiring. As we get older, Satan and the world make us timid. As Jesus said, we should all have faith as a little child. We could move mountains.

I feel sorry for the cops. The act was premeditated, and that is fine, but you know the cops hated to arrest those kids.

I'm appalled their parents put them in this position.

I'm appalled that America put them in this position.

I understand a grandstanding political statement when I see it, and using children in such an effort smacks of child abuse.
