For legal reasons, the names of the family and the 14-year old girl that are the subject of this story have been withheld at this time.
GRANITE CITY - A Sothern Illinois woman was arrested last week (March 17) after trying to intervene on behalf of her 14-year old daughter's effort to have an abortion. The girl was allegedly taken to an abortion clinic by the mother of the man allegedly to have impregnated the 14-year old.
According to the girl's mother, her 14-year old daughter was called off from school in Madison County by a woman posing as the girl's grandmother. The woman took the girl from her home only minutes before the girls mother returned home from work.
It was later determined that the woman who had posed as the "grandmother" to the school authorities was the mother of the male who had fathered the unborn child the 14-year old girl was carrying. The age of the male has not been released.
When the parents were notified their pregnant daughter was not at school, they suspected she had been taken to the Hope Abortion Clinic in Granite City. The parents and grandfather were the only persons authorized to request school absence for the fourteen year old female.
My husband and I rushed to the abortion clinic where we saw our daughters name on the roster and the time she had checked in, the mother said. She then went into the clinic and searched a room filled with young women awaiting abortions but did not see her daughter.
She took a seat near the main desk and said, I was told I could not prove my daughter was there so I began calling her name. A medical tech at the clinic told me , Its your daughters rights, its her body. You have no rights.
After continuing to call out her daughters name and telling her dont do it, authorities were called and the mother was arrested.
The 14-year old told her mother she could hear her but when she asked employees to give her mother a message, they came back to the room and told her that her mother had left.
Angela Michaels, of Small Victories Ministry, was tipped off as to what was happending at the Hope clinic. According to Michaels, she witnessed police placing the mothers hands behind her back, taking her into custody. As the police were putting the mother in the squad car, she was crying out, Please, please, help me...my daughter is in there.
Michaels said, Exactly one hour later at 10:35 a.m., the 14-year old emerged from the clinic looking disheveled. The 14-year old told us that employees kept her in a quiet room until the procedure was performed and she was told that her mother had left.
Employees assured this girl on her departure, No-one will ever know you were here, well bury your records.
In the meantime, the woman who had taken the girl for the abortion was slipped out the back door of the clinic.
The police in the community in which the family lives allegedly told the girl's mom that they couldn't intervene despite her making a charge that her daughter had been raped (by statute) because the charge was stale--7 weeks after the incident. They did tell the girl's mom that, while she had no right to stop the abortion, she did have a right to go into the clinic and speak to her daughter.
The parents are expected to file charges.
"Since when can any child undergo any surgical procedure without a parent's notification? You can't even get your ears pierced under the age of 18!"
Only if it is an abortion. It is legal.
(Didn't do it for me either)
Hard to believe that this is Easter week.
Why, it's just the Passion being re-enacted, because Satan is so bold. Remember, Elian Gonzalez and that Easter Week?
V's wife.
I'm in total agreement with you.
How would you have handled it? It may be a bit trickier for a woman. I'm confident that if I had entered the clinic no one could have stopped me before I reached my daughter. It's a little harder for the fairer sex.
I killed the only child I would ever carry when I was 19. I didn't know the risks, like sterility, which I ended up with. Nobody told me. But I'm ready for motherhood now!
You have to live your life in complete denial to not be affected in a major way by killing a child. And there's no doubt many women live that way.
Have bad things happened in your life that affected you? Have you ever hurt someone who didn't deserve it and you didn't get a chance to apologise? Things like that happen in many people's lives. If they are decent people, they have regret and the incident has affected their lives. Do they all live in "trauma?"
Of course not.
But the idea that abortion is easier than adoption or raising your own children is a myth.
yeah. "hope you'll be back so we can make so mo money"
Just damn. . . .
Please, Please fellow Freepers, PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY!! EVIL IS EVERYWHERE!!
This is the obverse to the Terri Shiavo killing. I am speechless.
I want to see the poll that actually says:
"Should Terri Shiavo continue to be starved?"
I bet if you put it that way, you'd get a different result.
The worst thing is, it's obvious it's the same thing, but it proves how easily words can shape peoples' ethics. No, actually the worst thing is that the MSM know that and therefore won't pose that question.
You can't kill that baby.
But that's not a baby, it's a fetus.
Well, okay then.
It's all about words.
It's all about words.
Lakoff and "framing"! It's what Hillary is trying to pull now that she's suddenly discovered the center. It's what Dean means when he says that we need to "change the language that we (Democrats) use when we talk about abortion."
Sorry but they can "frame" it all they want, until hell freezes over. Abortion is murder, euthanasia is murder.
There are three choices when a girl/woman becomes pregnant.
Abortion
Adoption
Raising the child
Each of these choices has responsibilities involved and burdens to bear. Abortion is not a get-out-of-pregnancy-free card despite what some people think. So no matter what, if you are pregnant, you are going to deal with some pain and troubles down the road.
So I suggest erring on the side of life. How can anyone regret not killing their own? (besides Charles Manson's mom obviously)
It's extremely unlikely that your fertility problem was related to the abortion. That's a popular myth among anti-abortion activists, but there's no unbiased medical evidence which backs it up. In the Soviet Union, studies consistently found that women had had an average of at least 9 abortions -- it was the only birth control method available, so everybody used it over and over again. Soviet medicine was hardly advanced (I lived there for a couple of years in the late 60s/early 70s and no Westerner would have dreamed of going to a Soviet doctor -- if you needed more than your embassy clinic could provide, you hopped on a plane to Finland). And yet even with the relatively primitive medical skills, equipment, and facilities, women who abortions virtually always got pregnant again, in a long repetitive cycle of pregnancy-abortion-pregnancy-abortion-pregnancy-abortion . . . . Abortion does not cause sterility, period. If there are serious complications, which are rare, that can occasionally lead to fertility problems, but no more than complications from natural miscarriages.
"Suothern Illinois woman was arrested last week (March 17) after trying to intervene on behalf of her 14-year old daughter's effort to have an abortion"
Okay I haven't read the thread. I was going to say, are you kidding?
But after the "kids arrested for bringing Terri water" pictures ... after all we've all fought for on Terri's behalf, I guess this doesn't surprise me.
May God forgive us.
First thing, here, my husband would have been with me, not much would have kept him from going into that clinic. So, I would have had support in that way.
and searched a room filled with young women awaiting abortions but did not see her daughter.
Second, I would have kept searching till I found her. Or proved ,through a visual inspection of the clinic, that she was not on the premises. .
She took a seat near the main desk
I would never have taken a seat. I would have kept calling her name and telling her not to do it, but I would have kept looking for her. Anyone who tried to stop me would have placed themselves at cross purposes with me. They made the decision to get into my way, knowing, because I would be telling them that my daughter is only fourteen years old, had been kidnapped and I was filing charges and I better not find her hurt, harmed or bleeding. I imagine that at that point, anything could be picked up to help me clear my path to my daughter. .
and said, I was told I could not prove my daughter was there so I began calling her name. A medical tech at the clinic told me , Its your daughters rights, its her body. You have no rights.
I most likely would have bloodied this person. .
After continuing to call out her daughters name and telling her dont do it, authorities were called and the mother was arrested.
My point in my statement, is this. Most likely the charges for the arrest would have included assault. I tend to be pretty easy going. I do not tolerate, advocate or appreciate stupid senseless violence. I do however believe that our child is our responsibility. If you threaten my child and my grandchild, and I consider giving a fourteen year old an abortion one of the gravest endangerment, most certainly I will have to be dealt with. Will I come out of it unharmed? Probably not, but thats not the point. If I can save my daughter and grandchild from this evil, I will do what is necessary. .
I just want to quote both of you:
Rutles: "Take a good look everyone. Our nation is disintegrating before your very eyes."
and rollow:
"It seems every year around this time Satan's minions are busier then usual."

Okay so I haven't played much in the html sandbox. :) So I have to make quotation marks and a big line to differentiate my post. I'm sorry.
But you know, I posted this earlier. I realized today that Terri's death warrant took effect, as the news media up here keep saying, "7 to 10 days" before her death. Apparently starvation/dehydration takes 7 to 10 days.
So I find it especially cruel on the part of Judge Greer that on any of the days that he could have ordered her tube removed, it is very striking that it is 7 days before Good Friday and 10 days before Easter.
And if Terri dies, her family will never again be able to celebrate this holy week without sadness. What an insensitive slap in their face.
I had people respond to me that this is no accident.
Right out of the gate you're wrong. Do ten, fifteen minutes worth of research. Start with Operation Outcry or Project Rachel. See where those take you.
brainwashing by anti-abortion activists
Yeah, right. It couldn't be, perhaps, that the post-abortive woman woke up one morning and realized--to her horror--that she wilfully put to death an innocent, individual human life? No, brainwashing makes so much more sense.
Furthermore, lots of women who had babies they didn't want are traumatized -- either by having been forced to give up the baby, or by living under the constant stress of trying to raise a child they aren't emotionally or financially equipped to raise, while mourning for the life they (and their children) might have had if they had postponed childbearing until they were ready.
You're talking about a wee percentage there. Who on this earth doesn't have fleeting regret? Who isn't occasionally nostalgic for the way things once were? That is not trauma. That is normal. Ask any parent on this forum--emotions like that with regard to parenthood are not just fleeting, they are pretty damn rare--and there are some parents on this forum who had kids at a very young age. Those emotions are completely different than the trauma that post-abortive women have to deal with, for the rest of their lives. A woman's abortion doesn't simply move out after 18 years. It never goes away.
As it so happens, I am speaking for quite a few FReeperettes. You haven't walked in our shoes. You have no idea what it is like--none, unless you want to fess up to committing a homicide. It is horrific. Guilt, anguish, rage, helplessness, horror...would you honestly risk the chance that a child of yours would have to live with that all of her life???
"You have to live your life in complete denial to not be affected in a major way by killing a child"
stands2reason, let me just say, oh I don't know what to say.
I've always said before that it was someone close to me that had an abortion. It wasn't me, but seriously, my sister was pushed into an abortion. She called me, so happy to tell me, that she was pregnant. All she ever wanted was to have a baby. But they weren't married. I encouraged her, but a couple of days later, her then-boyfriend talked her into an abortion.
And I tried. I called clinics, help resource centers, what have you.
Sadly, whenever I said, "my sister is about to have an abortion she doesnt really want," I got, "OH! you want the *insert Conservative Christian anti-abortion line* when all I wanted was some real help for my sister.
I mean, let's be truthful. There are many young women out there that really don't know what to do and are swayed, especially by men who don't want take care of their responsibilities.
So my sister did have an abortion. And she once she and her boyfriend (oh yeah, he thought it was okay to get married not long after that, but his view is that a fetus is basically like a shrimp or not even that, a blob, so who cares if they aborted) got married, well they tried to get pregnant but my sister had a lot of trouble conceiving and then a miscarriage.
I am so sorry, stands2reason, because I got carried away. Let me just say that I, and so many other people who have seen your post, are praying for you to be a happy Mom very soon.
I have to believe in forgiveness, otherwise, I don't think I could survive. :)
And I am not joking. Because I know that I make mistakes every moment of every day.
