D.C. PRINCES TAKE ON THE PAUPERS
Washington Times ^ | 3/14/2005 | Jim McElhatton

Thousands of dollars in federal funds intended to assist poor D.C. schoolchildren appear to have been spent instead by school administrators on retreats and unapproved travel. D.C. auditors are looking into the public school system's use of these federal funds. "You had at least principals and some other managers participating," Deborah K. Nichols of the Office of the District of Columbia Auditor says. "No cost was spared." Mrs. Nichols disclosed the inquiry at an oversight hearing by the D.C. Council's Committee on Education, Libraries and Recreation.

The solution is so obvious -- we should throw more money at them!

The DC school system is a shining example of the world liberal elitists dream of creating. The rich and powerful send their own children to private schools in and around the District while everyone else's kids are stuck in a school system almost guaranteed to prevent them from becoming wealthy and independent. The only "middle class" consists of goverment beaurocrats in various agencies who, like the poor, depend on a union negotiated government paycheck for their lifestyles. Imagine of this "system" were expanded to include health care.

The only thing surprising about this is that its being reported. Remember when the President of the Teachers Union stole all that money? Tell you what I bet. I bet there are dead teachers still on salary.

I am so enraged at the smirking, sneering elitest boodle hounds that make up the D.C. Public School system.

In a better world they would all be fired including the school board and the mayor would start with a blank piece of paper and redesign the whole thing.

The unctuous, greed laden, slimeballs, have doomed thousands of children to a lesser life because of the quality of education in D.C.

They deserve every parents bitter curse.

Regards,

Nothing about the Washington school system surprises me anymore. I find it ironic that American history, dealing first with the lives of the Founders (Jefferson, Hamilton, Franklin) is no longer being taught in the schools, but thieves who now run the system are all too familiar with the Jeffersons, Hamiltons and Franklins pictured on the U.S. currency. At the risk of being called a racist, I suggest what is going on here is what is going on in the African "democracies" run by a thug and his associates. Oh by the way, we are keeping them up, too, with American taxpayer dollars. To hell with it all, and every man for himself.

Agreed. Kofi Annan would run D.C. schools better than the crap eaters in charge there now.

In a better world they would all be fired...

Correction, in a better world they would all be horsewhipped. Parents of DC Public School children should bring suit for child abuse.
