Republican Disowns Lesbian Daughter (Keyes)

Republican disowns lesbian daughter

Gary Younge Saturday February 26, 2005

Guardian When the leading Republican and rightwing pundit Alan Keyes was asked what he thought of Mary Cheney, the lesbian daughter of the US vice-president, he called her "a selfish hedonist". If his own daughter came out as a lesbian, said Mr Keyes, he would say the same thing.

So when Mr Keyes' only daughter, Maya Marcel-Keyes, declared herself a "liberal queer" at a public rally he lived up to his word. Her parents turned her out of their house, broke off all communication and stopped paying her university tuition fees.

Ms Keyes told a rally supporting gay young people in Maryland: "We have to figure out what we can do to make sure that during those times when it seems like everything in the world is turning against them, like everyone in the world is rejecting them, that they know there are resources out there they can turn to; there are people out there who will say to them, 'I care'."

Ms Keyes joins a list of gay people with rightwing relatives, including Mary Cheney and Candace Gingrich, the sister of Republican congressman Newt Gingrich. But Mr Keyes, a darling of the religious right, has been more outspoken on the issue than most.

Ms Keyes says her parents were "not too pleased" when she came out. "Things just came to a head. Liberal queer plus conservative Republican just doesn't mesh well."

Her older brother has offered her somewhere to stay and she has been given a scholarship to continue at college.

"My daughter is an adult, and she is responsible for her own actions. What she chooses to do has nothing to do with my work or political activities," Mr Keyes said in a statement.

Ms Keyes says she loves her parents and "totally understands" their position.

Christ loves all. He just don't love the sin.

That is a popular sentiment these days, but it is not in alignment with Biblical truth.

Psalm 11:5
The LORD tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.

Psalm 5:5
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity.

Now, you may choose to follow popular sentiments, but as for me and my house, we will follow the Lord's Word.

God doesn't banish people because of their sin.

Job 31:2-3

2For what is the allotment of God from above,
And the inheritance of the Almighty from on high?
3Is it not destruction for the wicked,
And disaster for the workers of iniquity?

Psalm 5:5
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity.

Psalm 7:13-15
13He also prepares for Himself instruments of death;
He makes His arrows into fiery shafts.
14Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity;
Yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood.
15He made a pit and dug it out,
And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

The "pit" and "ditch" are metaphors for hell. The wicked are indeed banished for their iniquity. Please learn to read the Bible is the context of it's entirety.

He banishes them because they reject the Holy Spirit.
No, that is the only sin that cannot be forgiven. But all workers of iniquity reject the witness of the Holy Spirit.
John 3:
19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.

What does happen with sinners is that they lose out on his blessings here on earth because they walk their own way.
No, what happens is that the wicked are cast into the Lake of Fire where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13:41-43
41The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

They don't see the Kingdom of God on this earth because they won't obey and walk the way God wants them to.
They don't see because they are blind and love the darkness.

If they repent and turn away from their sin, they can once again be blessed by the God who does love them.
No one can come to the Son unless the Father draws them.
John 6:43-45
43Jesus therefore answered and said to them, "Do not murmur among yourselves. 44No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. 45It is written in the prophets, "And they shall all be taught by God.'[a] Therefore everyone who has heard and learned[b] from the Father comes to Me.

Romans 8:
5Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6The mind of sinful man[e] is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7the sinful mind[f] is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

Those who have not been regenerated by the Spirit of God cannot please God in any way, shape or form, they are dead spiritually and cannot repent unless God first enables them.

I'm not sick. You just can't handle a religious perspective.

Sorry, but your perspective is twisted and is a worldly perspective and not a Biblical perspective.

Actually, somewhere in scripture it talks about the father's sin being perpatuated for four generations. BUT it says sexual sin is 10 generations. Must be He knows sexual sin is harmful to our families.

The marriage covenant in Scripture, since Genesis, has always been a metaphor for the relationship between Christ and His Bride, the Church.
In the OT, God always referred to idolatry and "adultery". Sexual sins, especially homosexual sins distort the picture of that relationship. That is why God hates it so much.

I take that to mean that if Osama Bin Laden was your father or son that you would be supportive and sweet to him?

No, I wouldn't. I would try to turn him from what he is doing, but I wouldn't abandon him.

Interesting. If you cared about him and others you would do the right thing and turn him in.

But carry on. Your posts have proven exactly what I was saying about some particular form of Christianity which condemns people without knowing a whit what they are talking about.

You must be talking about YOUR particular brand of churchianity, because that is precisely what YOU were doing and have been doing in condemning and bashing Alan Keyes from the very beginning after you were so easily manipulated emotionally like Pavlov's dog by that leftist liberal rag, the UK Guradian. You bought into their lies and went ballistic by quickly condemning Alan Keyes without knowing a whit of what you were talking about.

You should be ashamed!

Okay how's this, Jesus did not have a bunch of defiant prostitutes and homosexuals following him around. He didn't reject them but he didn't enable them either as the repugnance of his message to them would've automatically kept them away.

Like fire and water the perversion of homosexuality and the ideals of Christian ideology just don't mix, no matter how some of the homo-apologists on this thread apparently would like it to. There can be no compromise, you're not helping this girl by enabling this condition with a business as usual attitude under the guise of 'love'.

Maya can't have it both ways. She must choose which household she wants to belong to, the one where she was raised where the ideals of Christianity are the standards of behavior or the sodomite family where the standards of sin are embraced as virtue. Hopefully one day she will miss what she used to have and come back to it. I salute Keyes and know that this was not an easy choice for him to make.

Now this is truly revealing.

To: Peach Reading comprehension is a good thing. And I'd post more to you but you won't "get it." Sad.

If you do post to me, try using some scripture at least once on this thread. I'd appreciate it. Otherwise don't waste my time.

-------------

The Bible does not say, "Hate the sin, love the sinner." It says, "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he" (Prov. 23:7). And that God hates "all workers of iniquity" (Ps 5:5). "The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man" (Ps 5:6). Also "the wicked and the one who loves violence [God] hates." (Ps 11:5). Further, "The face of the Lord is against those who do evil" (Ps 34:16). God "loves righteousness and hate[s] wickedness (Ps. 45:7).

Obviously, "Peach" has created her own religion, and in her mind fashioned her own god in her own likeness, which is idolatry. Because you have God's Word as your guide and believe what God has revealed of Himself in His Holy Word, "Peach", like many atheists and communists thinks you have a problem and need help. May God help her soul.

Excellent work there my brother and friend.

Good thinking. He had lots of sinners of all kinds around him.

In fact, everyone is a sinner. And he didn't focus on certain sins only.

Not like many of the people on this thread who have an unhealthy obsession with only certain kinds of sins.

In fact, I can't seem to put my finger on direct quote by Jesus where he addresses the particular sin of homosexuality. Maybe you can refresh my memory.

Keyes is a mean-spirited self-righteous SOB who gives Christianity a bad name.

Are you speaking as a sweet-spirited Christian?

I think if John the Baptist and Jesus were here now they would say the same about them.

"If this is Keyes brand of Christianity, I don't want any part of it. What a disgraceful parent and role model."

This is not Keyes's brand of Christianity. It is Christianity. You do not condone homosexuality knowing the end result (HELL). Accepting it would be hate not love.

Although difficult and harsh, Keyes did the right thing.

Yes. It makes me very angry. Especially when the lies and slander pour forth from people who claim to be Christian. What they take pleasure in doing to Keyes and his family is *not* Christian.

Amen. What is also disturbing is that those who have been so quick to condemn a Godly man based on lies and distortions created by a leftist rag, have done so based on postmodernist subjective personal feelings and not in alignment with the Word of God. When "Peach" or other so-called "Christians" have been pressed to back up their assertions with Scripture, they become curiously silent.

As I said before, Satan has infiltrated the Church as a angel of light in the form of postmodern liberalism and it needs to be exposed for what it is.

Yah, show me where Alan Keyes "disowned" his daughter.

He didn't! That is what the leftist rag the UK Guardian said and you have fallen for the lie.

We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. And if it's at ALL true that Keyes at some point cut off communication to his daughter over this...that is disgraceful as well.

1 Corinthians 5

9I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people– 10not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

12What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man from among you.”

---------------------------------------------------------

What does that passage in 1 Corinthians mean?

In fact, I'd be willing to bet that many of those condemning her here have sinned, even sexually (like fornication or adultery).

I share your suspicion.

Actually, it is God's Word that condemns the practice of homosexuality and calls them to repent as all sinners are called to repent.

Romans 1

18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man--and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
24Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[c] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[d] unmerciful; 32who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Condemn the sin, love the sinner.

Does God love the unrepentent sinner?

If so, then how do you explain these passages that refute your repeating of a un-Biblical but popular sentiment:

Psalm 5:5;

5The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity.

Deuteronomy 7:9-10;
9"Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; 10and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face.

Psalm 11:5
The LORD tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.

It appears that the sentiment you repeated is in opposition to what the Word of God teaches. Which do you think is right?

Alan Keyes understands this proverb:

Proverbs 15:10;
Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, And he who hates correction will die.
