CNN's Bruce Morton Urges End of Boycott of French Products: "Drink their Wine, Eat French Fries"

CNN liberal girly-man Bruce Morton just completed a segment on Inside Politics the point of which was to encourage Americans to stop boycotting French products.

His pitch came in the course of a segment demonstrating - through poll results and conciliatory remarks by Condi Rice - that American attitudes toward France are thawing.

He concluded his piece, standing at a bar with many bottles of (presumably French) wine in evidence, by instructing us "so have a glass of French wine, or eat a French fry - they're good!"

Thanks, Brucie, but when it comes to my personal economic foreign policy, I'll take guidance from my own principles, not from over-the-hill liberal hacks like you.

I remember years ago during the Enron scandal, Bruce Morton did a "journalistic" piece for CNN. It was suppose to be about how Enron exec's were ripping off the company and shareholder's. However, the piece started out with a camera shot of the NY Times which had an article with Enron in the title. The NY Times also just coincidently had a picture of President George Bush. The whole time Morton was talking of corporate scandals and exec's ripping off their shareholder's they had the camera focused on the picture of George Bush.

It was a very slimy thing to do, linking Enron with President Bush without ever saying a word. Although, in my case, I have forever linked Bruce Morton with slime.

I didn't know they were still selling Paul Masson until I saw it in a deli in Midtown a few months back. Its nothing more than Central Valley fermented grape juice, YEECH!

There are NO great California wines produced south of Livermore and east of the coast.

Speaking of good CA wine, last night I had a ZD Chardonnay, and it was absolutely awesome. On the other hand, the $15 price tag for a modestly-sized glass in a NYC restaurant detracted somewhat from the enjoyment!

Now that's just a heartbreaker. And now Bruce Morton is whining on their behalf too. Once I quit French wine, I'm not looking back. They should've thought of the consequences of their actions.

True, but avoid anything from the Central Valley like the plague. The only crap that comes out of the Central Valley is Carlo Rossi and Charles Shaw.

Napa and Sonoma, to say nothing of Mendocino, have a much higher price/quality ratio than anything coming out of Bordeaux or Burgundy these days.

kind of true but when I took wine classes it seems to me that Napa will bring in Central valley grapes to make some of their sweeter wines and central valley will bring in some red grapes from Napa/Sonoma for their better reds....don't know how much this happens still....Livermore makes some great Ports and Sherry's though
