A Warren County elementary teacher faces a maximum 100 years in prison if she's convicted of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy.
Only news two was in Fentress County as 27-year-old Pamela Rogers Turner was arrested and charged with 15 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and 13 counts of statutory rape. District Attorney General Dale Potter said that Turner, a physical education teacher and coach at Centertown Elementary, had an ongoing sexual relationship with a male student. Potter said that some of the incidents even took place at school and at the boy's home, where the teacher reportedly lived a short while.
"Most of the time, we try to prosecute them as harshly as possible when it comes to sex crimes involving children. As far as this case, we intend to prosecute it to the fullest extent possible. As far as saying that she will get an x amount of time or anything like that, that will probably be determined by a judge," said Potter.
I'm mostly okay ;) Had some issues as an older teen and it took awhile for me to get over sex being "dirty" -- and a lot of time to get over it on the whole. As an adult when you have that epiphany moment when you realize that teenagers really ARE stupid no matter how "smart" they are. . .and you realize and recognize the decisions you made then for what they were, it's rather like grieving.
It took me a long time to recognize what happened to me as statuatory rape, as well as understanding what that is. I may not want the law in my bedroom, but there are reasons for the age of consent laws and the sexual predator laws being the way they are. I was a victim of a 26 year old predator, and I've moved on since then, but with a lot of help from family, my husband, and growing up.
agreed
that does not surprise me...good work AM!

Ah dang! It's already been removed.Bye, Free.Pamela.
"He/she/it's dead, Jim!"
It seems like many women are taken in by an older man at some point. Evil and manipulative men! *laughs* I'm teasing, but you know what I mean.
My biggest issue is that teenagers need to BE teenagers. It's one thing for a teen to be sexually involved with another teenager. It's another thing for an experienced adult (note I don't say legal -- 18 year olds may be adults but so many are still SO young at the same time) to take advantage of a "child."
Nevertheless, there are reasons why society has decided that consent given by underage children is irrelevant, legally. Even if the child consents, or if the child has fantasized about it, or even if the child initiates it.
Weren't the previous two out west?
In that case I'd say yes, coincidence. BTW, Nashville is quite a ways from Appalachia.

Lab lover , beer lover or both?
It was the result of two things. 1) He discovered that he was one of many students with whom the teacher had had sexual intercourse. 2) The "relationship" was terminated shortly after the teacher's actions became news.
