Bottom line.. it takes a certin type of person, or the VERY SPECIFIC TOPIC (ie Holocaust) for people to WANT to go see a movie that bums you the hell out.
What is wrong with some of you?
Obviously the movie's producers wanted people to SEE the movie, but thought that would scare too many people away that didn't want to be all depressed and uncomfortable on their "night out" after they got a babysitter, or saved up the extra cash, or just been looking forward to a date.
Its the most BLATENT Baid & Switch.
Some of the stupid critics 'get off' on this crap because somehow they think they have a 'hand' in FOOLING us and (in their minds) 'educating' us on this type of movie that is GENIUS exactly becuase we end up seeing things we didn't want to see.
Its all transparently patheic, and the lack of logic some of you are exhibiting on the topic is MIND-NUMBINGLY-STUPID.

My mother-in-law has Alzheimer's. No, I DON'T want to see a movie right now about euthanasia, and the advertising IS deceptive. I'm very glad the plot line came out, my husband and I avoid certain movies right now because we need to, and I am grateful to Mr. Medved for sparing me another crying jag.
I miss his movies like Pale Rider (good over evil), and giving you some hope at the end. Maybe he figures by doing movies that depress people it'll make him a more viable candidate for an Oscar. Well, it's working. Personally, the person who I think REALLY deserves it is Mel Gibson, who has essentially been shut out by those open-minded folks in Hollywood. Gee whiz, they were falling all over themselves about the violence in The Passion, but all the other stuff in Hollywood (Rape, Torture, Murder, Adultery, Demons, etc.) is OK w/them. Is this an upside down world, or what?

I am adamantly against euthenasia and recommend this movie for everyone who truly enjoys a work of art.
The movie is 2 hours about boxing and 15-20 minutes about letting go of a loved one. Why not advertise what it is primarily about? From the trailer I didn't get the feeling it was a boxing movie. It seemed like it was about the relationship between Eastwood and Swank. What did I find the movie to be about when I watched it? The relationship between Eastwood and Swank. Having to say good bye is often a part of relationships so why is it not appropriate for this movie? Movies can contain twists it is okay.
Medved is such a turd. He was back on his endless Jihad against the homeless again today.

Agreed. An outstanding movie in all respects. Well written, well directed, and very well acted. One of the better movies of the year.
We did too. It was one of the worst 1/2 of a movie I've ever seen. Talk about deceptive advertising.
Melancholy? The truth that is covered by the movie wasn't quite as bad. Sylvia Llewellyn Davies actually attended the opening of Peter Pan, accompanied by her husband who was already dead in the movie. There are four boys in the movie, but the Llewelly-Davies actually had 5, with the fifth son born after Peter Pan was performed. But where the melancholy kicks in is after the time covered by the movie is over. The oldest boy, George Llewellyn-Davies died in action in World War I. The middle boy, Michael, was a suicide in college. The youngest boy, Peter, was a suicide as an adult. And the character played by Dustin Hoffman, Charles Frohman, died on the Lusitania.
Two other pieces of trivia. James Barrie invented the name 'Wendy' for Peter Pan. And at the end of the movie, after the people have seen the play, there is one lady who says to the youngest boy "You're Peter Pan". The lady who played that is Laura Duguid, the daughter of Nicholas Llewellyn-Davies, the youngest son who is not featured in the movie.

I agree with you on that one. I was so disappointed by LIT. It was just a lousy movie that was overhyped. Cliched, stupid and condescending.
