Live discussion of the hearings in Chelan County on Dems motions to dismiss the Rossi con test of the governors election. King5.com is streaming live!
He says he can't call for a special election. Darn.
Judge says he's going to address NOW whether or not a revote would be a legal remedy if the petitioners prevail. Wow, he's setting down the citations for his decision. This Judge was so prepared for this. He says the petitioners are not permitted to have a revote if they prevail. He's striking the portion of the petition that requests the court to order a new election. He says the court doesn't have that authority.
Yes, thanks for the play by play. I am in Houston and interested in the outcome of Fraudoire's 'Governorship'...
Drat!
The judge says he doesn't have the authority to rule for a new election????? Am I getting this wrong? ACK.....what does all this mean????
So where does that leave us?
not a lawyer.. but my understanding is he doesn't order a new election. but if he sets aside this election.. there is a vacancy and the law states how to handle the election of a governor when there is a vacancy
So what was the point of this hearing???? Dang...
Vicki, would you please let me know what the judge is saying? My video is buffering every second and I am not getting to hear it fast enough to know what he is saying. I know he is talking about wheather he has a right to call for a revote.
I don't know what this means. We need some legal eagles.
Martini time (double gin + lemon twist)
But if there is a re-vote, the office of governor will be vacant and the lt. Gov will become the governor until an election in November. I think the judge got this part wrong. The state SC will permit a special election.
I think if it is proven that there was BS in the election, the seat becomes "VACANT" and the laws of Washington stage says how that would be filled until the next general election.
I hope you're correct!
It means don't ever trust a male judge wearing an earring.
No re-vote.
That makes sense. The case goes forward and I'm okay with that.
No, I think if the election is ruled to be invalid, the seat becomes vacated and that state fills the seat until the next election however those laws say.
I'm not sure. The Dim lawyer said something to the effect during her arguments that if the petitioners prevailed in proving that Rossi actually won the election that the only remedy the court had was to declare Rossi as the governor because the court doesn't have the authority to order a revote. I don't know where we go with this.
So, the same as a re-vote? Just called something else?
