STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05

The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

Did you hear about the NIH funding? I hope he is going to send more money to the Rehab. Service Admin. Clinton did everything he could to get rid of it because they had the mission to get people to work, not get people a check.

Did he just wink at Souter?
Yes, right after his comment that judges should interpret the law, not legislate from the bench.

There is a new paradigm shift with Bush as president. He is systematically taking away key Democrat issues and filtering them with conservatism and common sense. Well said. I used to be liberal, the policies sounded good in theory. In practice they did not work. Became a conservative. Migling conservatism into the idealic thought of Liberalism is extremely smart on his part. It has the ability to attract voters on both aisles.

I haven't seen it either. I think this is one of the best speeches he has ever done. He is determined.....he knows he's right......and he doesn't give a s**t whether the rats cheer or not.

Woohoo!!!!!!! No legislation from the bench. Okay, he's punched my ticket. Can we get him for another four since the Rats say he wasn't elected the first time? Hey, what a great idea!!
