BBC ^

Germany's unemployment figure rose above the psychologically important level of five million last month.

On Wednesday, the German Federal Labour Agency said the jobless total had reached 5.037 million in January, which takes the jobless rate to 12.1%.

"Yes, we have effectively more than five million people unemployed," a government minister said earlier on ZDF public television.

Unemployment has not been this high in Germany since the 1930s.

If they keep talking about how bad America is, maybe their people will forget about their own problems.

These are the ills of socialism, The European Union super bureaucracy.

If the German economy keeps going like this in the next five years, the socialist EU will seize to exist, and every country in this artificial and fake union will go on its own.

Long live our Free Capitalist Market.

They don't want to figure it out. They think they are too good to do the Turkish jobs.

"The opposition also made political capital from the figures. It said there are a further 1.5 million-2 million people on subsidised employment schemes who are, in fact, looking for real jobs.

It added that government reforms, including unpopular benefit cuts, do not go far enough.

Under the government's controversial "Hartz IV" reforms, which came into effect at the beginning of the year, both those on unemployment benefits and welfare support and those who are long-term unemployed are officially classified as looking for work."

Even worse. Why am I so not worried that a charismatic leader will suddenly crawl out of the woodwork, take over and inspire them to conquer the world? They couldn't even scare up a "Pomeranian Grenadier" willing to risk his life cleaning up the tinpot thug Slobo and his goons in the Balkans back in the nineties.

How much is 50 billion Turkish lira....about 50 cents? Wait until the US military relocates its bases to Austria and the Czech Republic in the near future. Maybe they should ally with their Allies? Do you think?

See what high taxes and socialism can do for you? We're just not as "advanced" in the US. Our taxes are a little lower than Germany and our unemployment rate is 5.4%. Blame it on that cowboy Bush.
