Bill Gates says China has created brand-new form of capitalism (and praises Communist leaders)

China has created brand-new form of capitalism: Bill Gates

DAVOS, Switzerland, (AFP) - US software giant Bill Gates has high praise for China, which he says has created a brand-new form of capitalism that benefits consumers more than anything has in the past.

"It is a brand-new form of capitalism, and as a consumer its the best thing that ever happened," Gates told an informal meeting late Friday at the World Economic Forum in this ski resort.

He characterised the Chinese model in terms of "willingness to work hard and not having quite the same medical overhead or legal overhead".

Manufacturers have created "scale economies that are just phenomenal", in part owing to companies there and elsewhere on the planet designing good products, Gates said.

Looking ahead, he added: "You know they haven't run out of labor yet, the portion that can come out of the agriculture sector" was still considerable.

"It's not like Korea, Korea got to a point where, boom, the wages went up a lot," he said, adding "that's good, you know, they got rich and now they have to add value at a different level.

"They're closer to the United States in that sense than they are to where China is right now."

Gates continued by heaping praise on the current generation of Chinese leaders.

"They're smart," he said with emphasis.

"They have this mericratic way of picking people for these government posts where you rotate into the university and really think about state allocation of resources and the welfare of the country and then you rotate back into some bureaucratic position."

That rotation continued, Gates explained, and leaders were constantly subjected to various kinds of ratings.

"This generation of leaders is so smart, so capable, from the top down, particularly from the top down," he concluded.

"You're in the realm of conspiracy nutcases."

It's true that what MS could have done wasn't proven to have occurred (below), although we can understand the suspicion that arose at the time.

But I did prove in earlier comments that Bill Gates is a radical leftist, and it's more likely that your personal insults were in reaction to those. If you have a problem with the evidence that Bill Gates favors abortion, gun control, inheritance taxes, Chinese government, and so forth, try arguing with that.

Market-Socalism or State-Capitalism, it's all the same to the person who is forced to exist in sub standard (yet sustainable) conditions to benefit Party elites, not oneself.

Try reading The Servile State by Hillaire Belloc.

Pre 1917-Russian revolution book which predicted that the collision of Marxism with Western Capitalism would be just this--some people forced to labor for the good of others; hence the book's title.

Cheers!

An article from France? Not buying.

It appears that Bill Gates has decided not to post a transcript of his remarks from the 2005 World Economic Forum in Davos on his speeches page, although he did post his comments from the 2004 WEF.

Gates has not disputed the accuracy of the quotes attributed to him, praising the Communist leaders of China. I believe that he was quoted accurately - but he does not want those statements to be read by the American people.

Probably a good idea, they are some of the dumbest comments ever attributed to him, if not anyone in American business. Historically, however, both Gates and Microsoft president Steve Ballmer have been especially critical of "communism", so I'm waiting to see how these unusual statements are vetted by the press over time.

But if true, it would appear even some of our most outspoken critics of communism have now fallen under the lure of China. It amazes me how many enablers there are on Free Republic, every single day. Glad to see you're not one of them.

Good grief, how did someone this dumb become successful?

The Chinese dusted off an old form of capitalism called fascism.

Essayons is French. I don't not care for any French quotes for any of our military units and I would like to see a purge of any French slogans we have in the US.

FYI, Semper Fidelis is Latin (Semper = always, Fidelis = faithful) which we shorten to the renowned Semper Fi.

Essayons is so delicate, so.... French
