HUMAN EVENTS has learned that a billboard blitz "thanking" Hollywood for the reelection of President Bush will be unveiled early next week.
The advertisements feature the faces of liberal Hollywood icons Michael Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, Ben Affleck, Martin Sheen, Chevy Chase, Barbara Streisand, and Sean Penn, and offer thanks to Hollywood their help getting President Bush reelected.
Two versions of the billboard were created, both "thanking" Hollywood -- the first for "4 more years" and the second for "W. Still President."
Billboard creator Citizens United, a group that advocates a return to traditional American values, has purchased the use of three billboards near the Kodak Theatre (home of the Academy Awards) for the month of February, which includes Oscar Night, Sunday, February 27.
Asked about the campaign, Citizens United President David Bossie said, "We're taking on Hollywood. We've done it in the past." Of the organization's many actions, one of its most famous challenges to Hollywood was Celsius 41.11, a documentary exposing "the truth behind the lies of Fahrenheit 9/11," the Michael Moore anti-Bush mock-umentary.

"Was Ben Affleck vocal about anything political?"
Old Ben spent considerable time with the Kerry campaign, actually riding the bus and giving speeches for Kerry.
Trivia: In fact, during the Democrat Convention here in Boston, Ben's premier seats at the Sunday night Red Sox game against the hated Yankees at Fenway were assigned to a veteran from the recent wars who was scheduled to throw out the first pitch.
Taking advantage of the games high profile, the Kerry campaign had the legitimate war hero reassigned to the grandstand. Kerry took the front row good seat, Ben sat in the dugout. That veteran was the one who Kerry threw the first (wild) pitch to. Kerry took that honor as well, but he was actually booed in Boston just a short distance from his (ahem) home on Be-A-Con Hill!

Only problem that I see with this is the friggin' ego-maniacs on the billboard are going to complain that their mugs are not more prominently featured.

Was Ben Affleck vocal about anything political? Yes, he said Lou Merloni only got where he was because he was friends with Nomar, one of the Ten Most Ironic comments ever made (since Ben's career was solely due to pal Matt Damon).

Affleck is a sh-t actor who is on the road to straight-to-video movies. He should ask his boyfriend Matt for money.

I'm wondering if these "celebrities" will have any basis to sue for their pictures being used without their permission? I guess the folks that are sponsoring the billboards have considered that and have covered their butts. I certainly hope so.

The Celebrities have placed their faces and their names in the political arena and given up their protection. Why should they have any more rights than the politicians that Hollywood so freely deride with their blathering mouths?

I believe these pictures can be purchased from photo agencies for use in these types of ads. I suppose it's all cool as long as the billboard does not imply that they actually support a cause or candidate or organization without their consent.

The moment I loved concerning Ben Afflack was his interview I think with O'Reilly where he really got set up. Complaining about how he was so rich he shouldn't be getting a tax cut when O'Reilly asked him him if Calif. offered him the opportunity to pay more taxes would he do so. Of course he answered yes. Then Bill informed him that Massachusetts had THAT option but Billionaire John Kerry opted out for a lower tax. The look on Affleck's face was priceless.
