Georgia Flag Vote update
Southern Heritage PAC ^ | Jan 25 | SHPAC

Posted on 01/27/2005 10:15:33 AM PST by DixieOklahoma

Support Georgia's right to have a REAL vote on their state flag... The only vote issued did not include the flag that sparked all the controversay in the first place!.

In addition, only 6% of registered voters showed up at the polls, BECAUSE the real Georgia state flag wasn't included in the referendum!!

There is currently a bill that has just been filed with the Georgia State House to allow the real flag to be included in a statewide vote, as well as the current flag.

No matter your feeling on the flag personally... There SHOULD BE a vote on this state flag. After all it is the people of the state of georgia that the flag represents! Right is right, and the people should have a vote on their stolen state flag.

RINO governor (the liar) Perdue, who will be defeated in his re election attempt in 2006, has vowed that this bill will be killed in comittee.

Lets see that that doesn't happen:

They should have a vote, but I prefer the current flag to the 1956 version.

When the flag was changed in 1956 was there a statewide vote? If not, why the call for one now?

Because though there was no statewide vote when the state flag was dictated to us by the liberals/lessers, in order for them to be lesser there must a firm grounding on which we stand, that makes us able to claim the higher authority.

That grounding is principle. And it is for principle that the people of Georgia decide for themselves - which ever way they decide..

Wow! I just noticed the pictures.

I was born in Tennessee and moved to Georgia when I was 2. I was a member of the Dixie Lee Chapter of the Children of the Confederacy.

But those pictures embarass me and humiliate me to the core. Why would any intelligent human being want to move here?

I'd be interested in the answer posed in post #22, as to whether there was a statewide vote in 1956 regarding the new flag. I noted that you chose not to answer that question directly. Oversight or uncomfortable answer?

I'm also a bit puzzled by your concern in the following statement you made: "And some people, believe it or not still honor their Ancestors, and care too much about them to let political correctness take a huge shit on their memory."

Are you really unable to honor your ancestors in the flag first waved in 1956 is not brought back? I am somehow able to honor mine regardless of which flag flies over the state house. But then, I live in Maryland.

Think about it for a minute, without this as an issue, this group would cease to exist.

Exactly. And why is this an issue? The citizens of GA were promised a vote on the flag and they were usurped. The politicians sold out in a back room deal.

I like the current state flag of GA - it's a beauty, but I like excersing my right to vote on issues.....especially when elected officials promise.

No, there was no statewide vote. In the 1956 Georgia General Assembly, two state senators named Davis and Harden introduced a bill to change the state flag design incorporating the Confederate Battle flag. This bill passed and was signed into law on February 13, 1956.

No stateside vote.

This vote was in response to calls for integration and was about 2 weeks before the call for "massive resistance" by Democrat icon "KKK" Byrd of West Virginia.

This could have been easily avoided with a vote.

I think that's what most of us are saying. MS put it to a vote and the people were heard. GA should do the same.

I thought we did vote for a new flag. I remember a referendum vote during the Presidential Primaries last year. We were given the choice of the three flags and asked which one we preferred. The current flag won.

The current flag

Hey dmz, stainlessbanner is 100% correct. What's more, you might be surprised to know that our state flag (Maryland) might also be attacked one day. You may not be aware of the history of the Maryland State Flag. Check out the origin and history ... especially as it relates to the red and white botany cross. As a fellow Marylander, I'm sure you are completely fed up with all of the leftist garbage we are force-fed all the time. This is more of the same. I happen to cherish my southern heritage, but this goes beyond that. Based on principal alone you should be opposed to history revisionism and flag censorship. Where will it end? As stainlessbanner indicated, "Maryland, my Maryland" has a history that is not in line with the teachings of the intolerant left. Could it be next?

But to the point of sitting out an election and allowing a Democrat to win? Is it really that important?

deaconjim,
I sure hope you are not a deacon in any church I would ever go to. I would think that actually having a spine would be a minimal qualification for being a deacon. Although, come to think of it, you might make a great Unitarian deacon. They are not required to take a stand.

There is no issue more important, other than dead babies, than standing up to the PC gestapo. If you are ready to concede the fight to them, then so be it. I for one will never surrender to the South hating, PC goons.

Most like it. Only the flagers do not. Of course their flag divides Georgia. State flags are suppose to unite, and not divide.
