Woman who died with bear guru was duped.(Treadwell, environut)

For 16 months since Amie Huguenard and Timothy Treadwell died in the jaws of a bear at Kaflia Bay on the Katmai Coast, I have been waking up at night with thoughts of this 37-year-old Midwestern woman I never knew.

I can't get free of the words in an e-mail from an old boyfriend, sent months after Huguenard's death.

"Amie had a kind of naivete about her that added a real sweetness to her entire persona,'' Stephen Bunch wrote. "At times it was easy to convince her of things that were not entirely true. We would let her in on these jokes and get a good laugh, especially from her.

"Sometimes I found this quality frustrating because I would watch her 'swallow the hook, line and sinker' in situations where it was obvious what was going on. But I always felt I could trust her because she bestowed the same trust in you unconditionally.''

The last person Amie Huguenard trusted was Treadwell, and it led to her death in the jaws of a bear.

Ever since, she has been billed as Treadwell's "partner" in the tragedy. Early reviews of "Grizzly Man,'' a Treadwell film set to air at the Sundance Film Festival later this month, describe her that way or as the "girlfriend'' following Treadwell on his quest to "leave the confinements of his humanness and bond with the bears.''

That's a novel idea -- and one that is so much bunk.

The MG34 was belt fed, usually 8mm Mauser, ballistically similar to our 30.06

That's the weapon used as the basis for this, isn't it?

IIRC, the basis for the Strorm Trooper weapons was the Lewis gun.

The barrel jacket was similar to the Lewis gun.

Look at the pistol grips. Also, remove the drum magazine. OTO, that pit of info came from a friend of mine who has gobs of firearm trivia rattling around in his skull.

Or they could have set up claymores around the camp site.

Then on the tape you would have heard a couple of explosions, the woman asking "what was that", and the guy saying "nothing, go back to sleep, we can check in the morning." She says "okay, good night".

Another check in the dead predator column. We would all be hoping he was a freeper so we could get more details.

Montana Grizzly Bear Alert:

In light of the rising frequency of human/grizzly bear conflicts, the Montana Department of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, and fishermen to take extra precautions and keep alert of bears while in the field.

"We advise that outdoorsmen wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle bears that aren't expecting them. We also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a bear."

It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear
activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear excrement: Black bear excrement is smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear excrement has little bells
in it and smells like pepper.

Are SAW's shotguns? What Gauge?

Light machine gun

And those little .223 FMJs might just annoy the grizzly. Better rely on the LAW.

The wack jobs up here in Washington State want to release a bunch of Grizzly bears into the North Cascades (where I like to hike.) This will return nature to the way it was meant to be before it was spoiled by humanity.

I think they should release them right in Seattle. That's great bear habitat. They should throw in some wolves too.

In fact, most blue states are excellent bear, wolf and cougar habitat. Urbanization has pushed all of these cute and harmless creatures out of their original habitat areas, but they can co-exist with humans. Blue staters know this!

On the tape, when they were being killed, his last words were for her to hit the bear with the frying pan.

The bear probably thought they were trying to suggest a cooking method for human flesh.
