Defeated Kerry sits in cold

US Democratic Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, who had hoped to replace George W. Bush as president yesterday, instead sat in the cold and clapped as the Republican began a second four-year term.
Iowa Democratic Senator Tom Harkin patted Senator Kerry on the back shortly before the inauguration Senator Kerry had hoped would be his.
As Mr Bush delivered his inaugural address, Senator Kerry, about 10m away on the steps of the US Capitol, joined other lawmakers and the crowd in repeated applause.
Senator Kerry looked relaxed, at times wistful. He frequently smiled, able to hide any disappointment over what might have been.
Mr Bush was re-elected, capturing 51 per cent of the vote last November, while fellow Republicans expanded their majorities in both chambers of the US Congress.
In a statement released by his office, Senator Kerry, who has not ruled out another run for the White House, hailed American democracy and expressed hope he would be find common ground with the President he bitterly campaigned against.
"When we look around the world and see the increasing violence as Iraq's election draws near or see the fragility of democracy in Ukraine's elections, we are reminded what a powerful example our political system sets for the world," Senator Kerry said.
"We have strong differences," Senator Kerry said, yet "our system endures because we Americans expect nothing less."
"There has been a lot of talk over the last four years about uniting Americans.
"I hope now there will be a real effort to make true bipartisanship a priority.
"I'll be ready to reach across the aisle anytime we can work in good faith to make our country stronger."
Senator Kerry spent much of Mr Bush's big day out of the limelight.
Yet when he first stepped out of the US Capitol to attend the inauguration ceremony, his smiling face was shown to the crowd on a big outdoor television screen.
A smattering of cheers from the predominantly Republican gathering was quickly drowned out by loud groans and a few jeers. One man shouted, "Loser."

That's the least of it... conservatives are idealistic optimists. Liberals have become despondent pessimists. I loved the President's address. It was so Reaganesque. Trust me, Jean Francois Cheri would NEVER be able to give it if he had tried and if it was his place. No wonder the Left is beside itself. I'm not gloating; I'm a happy, confident American proud of my country and its special, blessed place in history. Something the Democrats and their friends in the legacy media will never get. God Bless America.

OH my God! This idiot has a complex or sumthin, he still thinks standing up in publis and saluting will remind people that he was a great war hero. What a jerk.
Also I thought the only civilian allowed to salute was the POTUS!

Here's some more Kerry info. He got BOOED!! "No one was more emblematic of their reduced fortunes Thursday than Sen. John Kerry, who watched from a prime seat as George W. Bush took the oath for the office he had fought to claim. Before the ceremony started, the Massachusetts Democrat walked up to the inaugural platform's edge and peered out at the crowd that stretched from the Capitol grounds to the National Mall.
Twice, as his image flashed on the giant screens flanking the stage, the audience booed loudly." http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahassee/news/politics/10693659.htm

Also, Jimmy Carter and his wife, what's her name, looked like they were both in the throws of a deep depression! Jimmy being implicated in the oil for food scandel will do that to a couple.

when they announced, "The 43rd president of the US, GW Bush", I got chills. I thought, thank God they are not announcing "JF Kerry". That would have been a nightmare.Just as most of us felt on Sept. 11, 2001, except that we were thanking God that it was G. W. Bush, and not Albert A. Bore, er, Gore as president then. Can you imagine what a nightmare we would have experienced in the past 3-1/2 years?

I would have given Kerry the job of pooper scooper following the horses. (birds of a feather).

When pressed on the fact that even brandishing a pen from his jacket would have violated debate rules, the Kerry staffer laughed, adding,
"See you at the inauguration, Drudge."
...I wonder if he did.
