Hillary's in
U.S. news & World Report ^ | 1/24/05

You don't have to take it from us about Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton 's desire to run for president. Her brothers, Hugh and Tony Rodham, say it's true. Friends tell us that the two are cheering Sis on and say she's making all the moves to get ready for the race--presuming she is re-elected by New Yorkers in 2006.

That's why the GOP needs to field candidates that are highly popular with the public.

Hillary is the most polarizing figure in politics. She will not win if the Republican nominee knows how to campaign. She will attempt to stage every appearance, every debate but a successful campaign will put her off balance without pushing her into her victim corner. She will appear arrogant and will be caught numerous times as her real self, which people will find repulsive.

She's far overrated in popular appeal but she is very dangerous when it comes to bribing and coercing her way to power. She will carry the blue cities but will lose everything else.

The real danger is not in her positions. Those are predictable and easily countered. The real danger is in her ability to have people manage 'voting irregularities' such as we have here in Washington state.

What is really needed is not a fear of this person's rise to power but a committment to voting reform. George Bush and his administration ignored voting reform after the Florida fiasco. They countered successfully by turning out the vote in 2004. But Hillary Clinton's power circle are analyzing and taking note of how many more votes they need from whatever source in whatever way to overcome key states. In Ohio they will figure 150,000 votes extra are needed and they will have a contingency plan there and in other states to ensure a win.

Washington State is now getting exposure because the people are overwhelmingly for election reform and for a revote. This can only be a good thing if actual election reform is established and enforced. It can set the stage for a national voting reform in time for 2008.

God works wonders and election reform in Washington State may lead to what is needed.

Other thread...and as I said on that one, of course those oafs of brothers of hers are cheering her on. They rode that gravy train before and they want to ride it again.

Well, DUH. Do these boobs think we needed their article or Spawnette O'Satan's brothers to tell us that she was planning to run? Sheesh.

Remember, it's all gonna come down to one issue: The power of the MSM. She will magically morph into the most perfect sounding candidate who has ever run for any office anywhere in the history of the planet. As an early example, check her statements on immigration. She doesn't mean them, of course, but they make far more sense than what Bush is saying. She will pull this same kind of shift on every issue that comes along. Most importantly, the MSM will pull out ALL the stops in order to convince the country that she really would be the greatest elected official in all of history.

If we reduce the MSM's effectiveness enough, we'll dodge a Hillary presidency. If not, we won't. It's just that simple.

MM

Make no mistake, the Clinton's will be very, very difficult to beat, and we had best prepare to really do something to soften up some states such as Pennsylvania, or we will once again be hearing "president Clinton" for 8 years.

I will include you on my list of bright people who understand the problem.

If she wasn't interested in the job, she and Bill would have been divorced years ago.

Not necessarily. I believe she would have dumped him after he left office but for Spousal Privilege. They can't be forced to testify against one another as long as they stay married.

First of all, she has to get past a re-election campaign in 2006, and that means that she will (at some point) have to pledge that she will serve out a FULL term of office IF she is re-elected (because any challenger, if they've got the sense God gave a goose, will hammer her with that).

That is done all the time, including by her husband in 1990. It means nothing.

Second, she will have to successfully navigate a national primary campaign,

No problem, just look at the dims who are holding back, and did on Kerry, waiting for her to run.

she brings with her all the baggage and corruption of the eight years of Clinton/Gore/Reno,

Meaningless to the press and dims and some middle of the road women. What they don't like they hang on Bill.

There is also the bigger question of how she can manage the pressures of a national campaign that will keep her in the spotlight 24/7. My bet is that when SHE is the center of attention, she won't be able to handle it.

A good campaign will handle this.

Third, her entire political philosophy will come under fire: her mysterious thesis paper from Wellesley that was reportedly so pro-Marxist that she had it sealed from public view, her ham-handed attempt to nationalize health care that was roundly rejected by the American people and the Congress, her involvement in the endless scandals of Billigula (not to mention the latest indictment of her former fund raising guy just this past week).

Meaningless.

Finally, if Howard Dean should somehow become the next DNC chairman, the Clintons won't have ANY friend in that position (as they did with their appointed hand puppet Terry 'The Punk' McAwful), and Dean will make it difficult if not impossible for Senator Fat Ankles to get a leg up (ewww) on the competition. Even if Dean does NOT become DNC chairman, there are still the massive numbers of far left Deaniacs that will not automatically rubber stamp Her Thighness unless she goes so far left that she falls into the same trap that Kerry did this past year.

OK this is a good point, but your first.

Hillary ain't got a prayer. Take that to the bank.

You are, sorry to say, just plain wrong here. I hate her, but she will be hard to beat, and your type thinking will help her get a head start.

While the thought of a three-way bloodbath between Ketchup Boy, the Wicked Witch of the West Wing, and Algore for the RAT nomination is fun to envision, the scariest part is that one of those 3 people will emerge with the nomination. The thought of any one of them in the Oval Office is scary.

good post.

the key to beating her starts now, we need some 527s up and running, not to dredge up all these scandals, but to prevent her from redefining herself. she can't be allowed to have 4 years to redefine herself and move to the center, often with idiots like Lindsey Graham kissing her a**, without any rebuttal that her newly found positions are lies. we can't start the campaign against her in September of 2008, likely with a little known national candidate of our own, after she has had all this time to reshape her image.
