As the special report on the scandal at CBS and "60 Minutes" was circulating around town, I was at a long-scheduled editorial dinner with the leader of the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, John O'Neill. Among the guests at the table was Jerry Corsi, co-author, with Mr. O'Neill, of the book that halted Senator Kerry's surge in the polls, "Unfit for Command." The Swiftboat Veterans for Truth is the 527 group that ran the advertisements on television and the Internet that so startled the American people and, many believe, did as much as any other single factor in delivering a second term to the president.
I've attended at a lot of editorial dinners over the years, but it is hard to recall one as enjoyable - or illuminating - as the sitting with Mr. O'Neill. One can call the story of the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth the flip side of the tarnished coin of CBS. One was the vaunted network that flubbed the story of a generation. The other was a true band of brothers, professional newsmen not, who had a story that none of the big institutions wanted. They put it on the air themselves with the contributions of more than 150,000 ordinary Americans and discovered that it resonated powerfully with an electorate that had grown tired of being treated with cynicism.

k-k-k-Kerry and the vets...
The vets couldn't save their fellow man in VN, Cambodia, and adjoining countries, but this time they saved the world.
Not only that, but recall in the Rathergate report that Mapes wanted to run this story a week before the election. I would bet that the pressure the Swifties were putting on the Kerry campaign drove CBS to put out the story much earlier, to try and focus the spotlight on Bush instead. It instead blew up in their faces, and kept Kerry out of the spotlight for at least two more weeks.

and we're not done yet...a little matter of the Traitor's reelection to the Senate...

They saved our country from a traitor who hates it and took a giant leap toward correcting the twisted version of the Vietnam war being spoon fed to our youth by a public school system run by his cohorts.
After the first ad ran, I began having 17-24 year-olds asking for information about what really happened in Vietnam and at home. I'm sure others had similar experiences.
Was it this story or the story about the ammo dump that CeeBS planning on running right before the election but the NYSlimes beat them to it in their paper?
BTTT!!!!!!
..and the UGLY!
If I am not mistaken he was murdered a few years ago.
He had been an invited guest at my daughter's school and spoke to the students.
Swiftboat Veterans for Truth ~ Bump!
(NY SUN..not the Post)..O'Neill makes clear that he and his fellow vets were in it for the vets ..not the politics. Cynics cannot grasp this..
They "corrected" Kerry's record, exposed his character, exposed his lies, and treachery, restoring the honor Kerry trampled on and tried to destroy all those years ago when he called them the army of Ghengis Khan.
I am forever grateful.
I recommend both the book and the movie. As far as I know, Dith Pran is still alive, though I rmember a rumor of his death back in 2000.
From what I have read, it was this story. I can only guess that the Swifties forced CBS to move up the air date.
Excellent! :-)
Thanks...
Thanks for the ping!
