ANSWER AGITATES FOR SIXTIES STYLE 'CIVIL WAR' AT BUSH INAUGURAL

International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism), a front group for the communist Workers World Party, has released a video that agitates for 'civil war' at President Bush's inaugural parade on January 20 in Washington, D.C.

According to reports, the group has received demonstration permits from the U.S. Park Service for at least two positions along the parade route on Pennsylvania Avenue: the Navy Memorial and Freedom Plaza.

The release of the video follows on the announcement that Ramsey Clark, a founder of ANSWER and its parent group, the International Action Center (IAC), will be one of Saddam Hussein's defense lawyers in his trial for crimes against the Iraqi people.

In 2003, ANSWER released a statement giving "unconditional support" for the terrorists killing Americans and Iraqis in the aftermath of the American-led liberation of Iraq from Hussein's tyrannical terrorist government.

In 2002, ANSWER spokesman Tony Murphy endorsed the homicide bombings of Israeli civilians by Palestinian terrorists.

Since it's founding on Sept. 14, 2001, while smoke was still pouring from the World Trade Center site in New York City where three days earlier terrorists had slaughtered almost 3,000 Americans and people from around the world in the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, ANSWER has worked to undermine America's efforts to defend itself from further terror attacks by allying itself with Saddam Hussein's government and Palestinian extremists.

For the most part, their protests have been peaceful, but the air of violence always hangs in the background--a legacy of the 1999 Seattle riots that gave a rebirth to the anti-American left.

Indeed, IAC leader Brian Becker acknowledged in a January 14, 2001 Washington Post interview that he had realized his movement could attract more people if they thought they would not get tear-gassed like they did in Seattle.

That interview was done in anticipation of the IAC's protest of Bush's first inauguration. Despite promises that the protests would be peaceful, the Navy Memorial, where the IAC had a demonstration permit, was desecrated by protesters who took down flags from the masts there and assaulted people who tried to intervene.

Despite that lack of care to maintain public property used under their permit, the same group (under a different name)has been given a permit to protest again at the Navy Memorial on Inauguration Day.

This time, however, their mask of peace and anti-racism has been removed by ANSWER's leader, Brian Becker, in the almost five minute long video promoting ANSWER's Inaugural Parade protests.

The video uses a somnambulant song over video clips of protesters and police actions at the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City. Protesters are seen carrying flag draped coffins, participating in illegal 'critical mass' bike riding and skateboarding on city streets. A plethora of images are shown of protesters being arrested by the police in an effort to demonize the police in the eyes of ANSWER's target audience for the Inaugural Parade.

Brian Becker, through carefully chosen speeches disguised as interviews, exhorts people to rise up against the Bush administration and their supporters.

In the first segment, Becker uses anti-Semitic codes words "neoconservatives" and "banking elites" while a sign that says "RNC Go Home" b/w "AIPAC Puppets" is shown on the screen. AIPAC stands for American Israel Public Affairs Committee: "The neoconservative agenda, which is really not just an ideological grouping inside the political establishment, speaks for a larger section: The corporate and banking elites in America who believe in the absence of the Soviet camp and the absence of the Soviet Union and the fall of the socialist bloc governments in the early 1990s, that a new empire, a new global empire can be established."

The next segment featuring Becker has him calling for a repeat of the violent upheavals of the late 1960s when assassinations, riots and violent protests nearly tore the country apart: "1968 and 1969 and 1970 where the United States was convulsed with such street protests of such magnitude that it seemed that the society was evolving, or devolving, toward civil war or great social strife, that will come again. And that will come again because resistance to this oppressive, illegal war of aggression is inevitable."

At the end of the video, Becker closes his call for revolution against the governmentat the Bush Inaugural (his statement is followed by a graphic promoting the Inaugural protest in Washington): "Most importantly, the most important ingredient in the coming epic battle for the defense of civil rights and civil liberties is not what the Bush administration does. We know what they will do. The question is what will we do? What will the people do? Will the people run, or will they stand and fight? And if they stand and fight, we believe the Bush administration and those who want to negate any semblance of democracy in this country will be defeated."

Pretty rich from a man who supports some of the worst violators of civil rights and civil liberties in our times: Saddam Hussein, Fidel Castro and Kim Jong-Il.

One wonders why, in a time of war, the U.S. government is permitting a viper to nestle next to its breast.

Why bother? Given security level of the event, administering a jackboot or two to the richly deserving hindquarters should not present any problem.

These are the losers in America. They had no initiative to excell in life and blame others for their failures. I wish they would put them all on an uninhabitated island and let them fend for themselves. I would sum them up as domestic terrorists all part of the democratic party.

Many people dont seem to realize the fact that the vast majority of the world is socialist; ie the government controls every aspect of life. Even the USA is slipping more towards being a socialist republic on a daily basis.

Its only a matter of time before the true patriots in the land of the free have to make up their mind whether or not to go right along with the rest of the world and become a socialist state. Maybe these protesters will help make up some minds.

I don't think they'll hesitate for a second to give those Commie freaks a 'wood shampoo' the moment any of 'em step out of line.

IndyMedia has posts of some DC leftists mad at ANSWER's attempt to "bigfoot" local groups as shown in links below.

DC Anti-War Network (DAWN) leaders believe that ANSWER set their 9 am gathering time to keep people from attending DAWN's event at that same time.

An Un-Endorsement of ANSWER Counter-Inaugural includes:

The most offensive part of ANSWER’s counter-inaugural announcements is the explicit call for activists NOT to attend the other events. This is absolutely inherent in what ANSWER is saying -- they insist, repeatedly, that protestors must be at ANSWER’s event by 9:00am. They stress the importance of 9:00am as an arrival time, they pound it into your head when you read their information on their counter-inaugural announcements. 9:00am -- the very starting time of DAWN’s events, a time that was announced well in advance of ANSWER’s events. ANSWER planned their event explicitly to conflict with DAWN’s events, that is absolutely clear and any attempt to deny this is illogical. The time-frame of 9:00am is important to ANSWER, is the important time to show up, precisely because it is the time they chose as the call to arrive at THEIR events! There is nothing other-worldly about 9:00am, no specific reason for the selection of 9:00am -- except one: to conflict with the other planned counter-inaugural events which ANSWER had no way of co-opting and claiming as their own. If they cannot make a claim of “ownership” and dominate planning/organizing/carrying out of an event, if they cannot at least manipulate the event or the images that emerge from it, they seem little interested in collaborating and in fact will try to detract from the event. [emphasis added]

Permits Granted includes this post:

Re: Permits Granted. by The Sad Truth

As many veteran activists know, ANSWER has a long history of organizing competing demonstrations and sabotaging the plans put together by other groups. The answer to this is to support the excellent work being done by grassroots groups such as DAWN and ignore ANSWER's events.

I'm wondering if they want to bring back the 60's protests that that means Bush gets to bring out the machine gun - sand bag bunkers on strategic street corners. Although that was perhaps a "70's thing".

Yeah, you're right about that! And I realize people are worried about border issues, particularly 'southern' border issues. And they're right; we do need to be worried about those. However, groups like ANSWER are just as dangerous as any terrorists that could come over the border! The groups like Al Quieda(sp?)and such are here, and we are watching out for them. But we also need to look out for these dangerous 'protest' groups!

I have no doubt that these people are being brought in, and are coming in too, by other ways and means, such as planes, busses, over Canadian border in cars, etc.! They scare me just as much as people that can run drugs over the southern border; and they are scary enough!

That's exactly what I've been wondering! I suspect that this bunch has weapons; but they don't want anyone else to have them. From knowing what this sort of people did in past times; they would do it again, without batting an eyelash! Whether it was a king, or dictator, or a conquerer, they would take others weapons to make them helpless.

But nowadays, most of these people sit back, and let others do their dirty work. They pretend to be in all concern about society, and pretend to be what they're not. They fool a lot of people into going along with them, until it's too late and they are caught!

They carry on about how they are so for peace and brotherhood, and all anti-war, diplomacy, etc. But if they were to ever gain enough power, it makes my head swim to think how quickly they would use war to gain power!

Oh yeah, they claim they are such peaceful people; they're such pacifists! But the 'masks' slip once in awhile, and soon they will drop entirely. Then they'll be far more dangerous and violent than the Bush administration is accused of being!

The people who make up ANSWER would not dream of fighting against a dictator even if they happened to disapprove of him. They think it's safe to fight against, well, a free republic (as it certainly was in 1968, when one of their own was running the Justice Department). I hope that this time they will discover otherwise.

I have thought long and hard about this. I have come to the conclusion the security lockdown should be expanded to a one mile radius surrounding the White House and all of the Inaugural Balls.

Sure, you have a right to protest. That does not mean people have to see it.

Pretty good analogy. Funny to watch them savage each other when they step on each other's sensitivities (vanities), which are numerous. It strengthens my resolve to bury them politically and socially whenever I read their garbage.
