Clink in the URL above for the new Tim Burton "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" trailer. The song will worm its way into your brain.

Depp, on the other hand, looks disturbingly like Michael Jackson.

Will Charlie and his granpa fart instead of burp to come down to the ground in the new version?

actually I've never seen a bad Tim Burton movie (with the lone exception of Planet of the Apes). I love everything he's done. Big Fish was hilarious and original (I could have done with less of the 'present' and more of the 'past' scenes)

I bought Ed Wood when it FINALLY came out a month or so ago and its genius, I've watched it about 12 times since I got it. Martin Landau def deserved the Oscar and Bill Murray is great as always when he plays a supporting role (he kind of sucks lately in main char roles, although he was good in Rushmore)

A really good Burton site:

I meant another remake that will fail. They should leave this movie alone. Gene Wilder rocks.

Some things are sacred. There's only one Willy Wonka and his name is Gene Wilder.

I agree. Plus, I am concerned that Tim Burton's morbid and dark side will taint what should be a light hearted movie. I think Depp made a mistake taking this role. He should have concentrated on the sequel to "Pirates of the Carribean." I understand that Keith Richards will play the part of Depp's character(Jack Sparrow). That ought to be a real hoot!

My understanding is that this is not a remake, but based on the original book (hence the title change.) The Wilder film, loosely based on the book, was financed by Quaker Oats and designed to sell the new Willy Wonka candy brand. I liked the "Willy Wonka" film too but I'm interested to see how this one turns out.

I gotta admit, I like the (very creepy) trailer. I doubt I'd pay to see it, but there is something eerily compelling about it.

I'm another Burton-Elfman fan. This looks good and disturbing. I know the author of Charley wasn't happy with the Wilder movie, so thats half an indorsement right there. Danny Elfman has to get some credit for these movies too. Sleepy Hallow and Nightmare Before Christmas rely on the music for so much.

agreed on all points Dahl's book was much darker than the happy "Candy Man" tilt of the Gene Wilder film. And yup Elfman's music is great in all the Burton films. It was a little weak in Big Fish, I hope this one is better, I saw a different trailer and it had Edward Scissorhands soundtrack music dubbed in, probably for temporary.

The Ed Wood soundtrack is the only Burton one without Elfman, but its pretty good too. I guess he figured Elfman wouldn't capture the cheezy 50's horror sound with the theramin and all.
