I agree. Plus, I am concerned that Tim Burton's morbid and dark side will taint what should be a light hearted movie. I think Depp made a mistake taking this role. He should have concentrated on the sequel to "Pirates of the Carribean." I understand that Keith Richards will play the part of Depp's character(Jack Sparrow). That ought to be a real hoot!
My understanding is that this is not a remake, but based on the original book (hence the title change.) The Wilder film, loosely based on the book, was financed by Quaker Oats and designed to sell the new Willy Wonka candy brand. I liked the "Willy Wonka" film too but I'm interested to see how this one turns out.
Why anyone would attempt to do a remake of Willy Wonka is beyond me.
You don't mess with perfection, and that movie was as near to perfection of what it was and should be, that Burton's attempt seems destined to fail.
