A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

Does the 76 signifiy your birth year? If so, you are young.

Hi Nan! Yes, the 76 signifies my birth year. I'm 28, soon to be 29. :-)

One of the most sublime moments on FR was when you and LadyX met in person. Two world class women, peers and pals, real friends smack talking each other forever. Great stuff.

That poignant marker, absent the Eagle Eyed observers round here, could have been lost in the latest "All Republicans are RINOs", "Nuke Somebody Swarthy Already", and "Illegal Immigrants Just Repossessed My 1983 Camaro" threads.

Just posted to you on the other thread. I had no idea.

The persecution of the conservatives continues. I wonder when it will end.

That meeting was one of the highlights of my life. The reporting of it by Sistah was what made it a Free Republic classic. Maggie Malone hasn't reported much since then. I think maybe that assignment was too much for her.

Read All Of It

Read: Psalm 119:97-112

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. —2 Timothy 3:16

Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 47-48; 1 John 3

Some Christian families follow the practice of reading through the whole Bible. After evening meals, they read a chapter or two. They read from Genesis to Revelation, skipping nothing. Even the genealogies with their hard-to-pronounce names are read aloud.

We might question the relevance of such a method for small children, but it does acquaint all the family members with the entirety of God's Word. It also exposes children to the sinful depths and spiritual heights of which we are capable, and it teaches them right and wrong.

If you've never done so, why not embark on your own program of reading the Bible straight through? Try doing it as a family or for your personal devotions.

There are two persuasive reasons for resolving to undertake such a program. One is Paul's declaration that all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable (2 Timothy 3:16). The other is the testimony of believers whose lives have been changed by following such a practice.

Read God's Word straight through and you'll begin to see the unfolding plan of God's redeeming grace, and that you were the object of His love even before you were born. Do it once, and you'll want to do it again. —Vernon Grounds

Oh, may these heavenly pages be
My ever dear delight,
And still new beauties may I see,
And still increasing light. —Steele

Those who only sample the Bible never acquire a taste for it.

"One of the most sublime moments on FR was when you and LadyX met in person. Two world class women, peers and pals, real friends smack talking each other forever. Great stuff."

{{ Hugs }} for the reminder of one of the Greatest Moments in Life, Barlowmaker..:))

Nan and I first 'met' a few years back when she was RevNan, finding we had parallel paths in our lives, but were diverted temporarily into other ones.
About two years ago, God decided it was "The Time" to reconnect us for His purposes, and the rest is history -- the bond is real and deep.

With it grew our determination to meet in person, not deterred by the distance between the banks of the Ohio River in West Virginia and my location in western South Carolina.

In the summer of 2003, she and Jack planned to visit her brother in Asheville, NC, and we decided we could rendezvous in Spartanbug, SC, right on two Interstates' intersection -- and a short shot for them up to Asheville from there..

That thread -"A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....03-21-03..Sistahs of the Spirit" - is located at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/956433/posts - HERE for those who missed it.
(Billie had me do the writeup in my 3rd person self - Maggie Malone, with several pictures throughout the thread.)

Yes - those were 20 action-packed hours, leaving our husbands to their own devices, talking rapid fire until later than 2 a.m.; the last part outside the hotel entrance in the warm night air.

The timing was surely His, for we parted Saturday, and Monday I had a bit of news for which this meeting was His fortification...Divine Providence at work, as has been so throughout my life...

Thanks for the memory reminder, Barlowmaker.
(you, too, are one of His messengers..:))
