BALTIMORE (AP) The president of the NAACP is stepping down as head of the nation's oldest and largest civil rights group, according to newspaper reports. Kweisi Mfume, who has been president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People since 1996, planned to make the announcement Tuesday, The (Baltimore) Sun, citing an anonymous source, reported in Tuesday editions. The resignation was also reported Tuesday in a USA Today opinions column by weekly contributor DeWayne Wickham.

Last month, the NCAAP announced that the Internal Revenue Service was reviewing the organization's federal tax-exempt status. NAACP chairman Julian Bond said the investigation stems from a July speech he gave that was critical of President Bush. Tax-exempt organizations are required to remain nonpartisan.

Doesn't he have something like 6 children with 5 different women, none of them he bothered marrying? What a sterling example for the black men of this country.

Pretty sickening isn't it? A real role model. And the Democrats demonetized J.C. Watts for having a son out of wedlock when he was a teenager. He has always taken care of his child and it never happened again.

He's probably frustrated by people he knows heading for a non-racist party.
In related news: The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will undergo a name change to the National Association for the Advancement of Liberal People and will begin accepting applications for membership from "other than colored people."
"We need someone who can stand up to the likes of Condoleeza Rice, Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams, JC Watts, Colin Powell and others so that colored people can have a chance and make some strides in this racist nation of ours" Mfume was overheard saying just prior to his announcement.

Thanks!
How could I forget to include that one?(!)
To: randog
It would never happen.
The moment they heard that a Moslem, especially a wackjob like "Calypso Gene", was going to be their next president, I guarantee you that at least a third-if not more-of the membership would resign in protest/disgust.
To: Mo1
I'm leaving an organization now that is strong and stable." Is he talking about the NAACP or his illegitimate brood?
