Well said, Tonk.
But NEVER FORGET that having WALTER CRONKITE's chief liar's job TV job was always DAN RATHER's top reason for being. DAN's Ego is embedded in all of this.
That's why the tears today...
...on CBS.

One would think SeeBS would want to stop the hemorrhaging before March.

Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag,
And smile, smile, smile,
While youve exposed the CBS brag,
Smile, boys, thats the style.
Whats the use of worrying?
It never was worth while, so
Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag,
And smile, smile, smile.

I give him until August, and he'll be hanging out stinking drunk in a dark back table in the Carousel Lounge dumping quarters into the Juke Box playing "The Way We Were", much to the dismay of the regular patrons.
"Stella B., get that man outa here!"
Dan the Rat?... your a slob. Good riddance to institutionalized incompetence in the form of celebrity backwash.

Dan the Man is gone! I am moved... to sing!
THE NIGHT THEY DROVE OLD SIXTY DOWN
(sung to The Band, "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down")
Professor Reynolds' my name --
I'm a blogger of Knoxville fame
But JimRob's Freepers became
Th' first ones to spot the frame --
In September of 'Thousand-Four
Bush was stumpin', Dems hopin' to score --
When th' memos were posted to see
Freepers saw th' fraud almost immediately . . .
(Chorus)
The night they drove old Sixty down
All th' phones were ringin' --
The night they drove old Sixty down
All th' Freepers were pingin' --
They went, "Now now now now now now,
Now now now now now now now now now . . ."
With Insta-wife in Tennesee
And next day she called to me:
"Hey Glenn, quick, come see,
Dan Rather's on th' TV."
Well I don't mind pajama-hood
And I don't care if th' money's no good
But I think it's clear to cBS
They should never have posted those documents . . .
(Chorus)
The night they drove old Sixty down
Charles Johnson was singein' --
The night they drove old Sixty down
cBS was cringin' --
They went, "Now now now now now now,
Now now now now now now now now now . . ."
The Freepers saw it before me
But I'm an honest man
And like Hugh Hewitt before me
I said this couldn't stand --
When the L.A. Times finally caved
Dan was all alone, diggin' his own grave --
Th' leftists' amateur deceit
Couldn't save th' Ketchup Man from a Dem defeat . . .
(Chorus)
The night they drove old Sixty down
Powerlines were singin'
The night they drove old Sixty down
PoliPundit was grinnin'
They went, "Now now now now now now,
Now now now now now now now now now . . ."
(repeat while schadenfreude persists)

Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye
He'll never love you, the way that I love you
'Cause if he did, no no, he wouldn't make you cry
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love (my love, my love) So dog-gone willin'
So kiss him (I wanna see you kiss him. Wanna see you kiss him)
Go on and kiss him goodbye, now
Na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye
Listen to me now
He's never near you to comfort and cheer you
When all those sad tears are fallin' baby from your eyes
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love (my love, my love) So dog-gone willin'
So kiss him (I wanna see you kiss him. I wanna see you kiss him)
Go on and kiss him goodbye, na-na na-na-na na na
Na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye
[fade in]
Hey hey-ey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye
you commie pinko s.o.b.

Rather shamed, Clinton shamed: You better not go there, Peter, not after what you did with those Ken
Starr leaks....They are both sociopaths, though, at least Clinton is. Rather, I think, is simply a true believer. Neither of them, in any case, realizes his true monstrousness. They are incapable of self-reflection.

He may not stare at the American public each night
BUT he'll be busy in the background spreading
propaganda against President Bush and the military.
He already was set to retire as Anchor.
When he's gone for good, that will be a win.
The liar still spreads lies.

What I'm really hoping...this is just his FIRST step down right out of there. I don't think CBS would just get rid of him altogether in one swoop - it would make the network look guilty and sheepish. Nope, one step at a time. Correspondent/60 Minutes will be the final one. Soon I hope.
I'm happy he will be gone from nightly news where he won't be doing his daily damage that so many get their news from.

Good riddance Rather. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Let's just hope SeeBS gets a responsible journalist to take his place.
