Former President William Jefferson Clinton formerly opens his Presidential Center, which will hold the papers from his two term presidency.
Attending the ceremony will be President George W. Bush, former Presidents Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush, along with First Lady Laura Bush ,Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Rosalyn Carter and Barbara Bush.
Im not missing the point....I know our President had to be there to represent the office, BUT his speech did not have to sound like Clinton was almost a SAINT, which it did...I DID listen carefully, just like I did at the unveiling ceremony....Clinton turned right around today and after the unveiling ceremony and trashed Pres Bush....in front of all those people today.....
its BENEATH our Presidnt to DO SUCH .. but he did....
I'm telling you, W always comes up with these double-edged compliments -- 'at the center was an able and 'energetic' American. If you think about it, that is a nothing word that could be interpreted in lots of different ways.

Okay, I understand that you don't get it.
Just listened to the ABC newsbite at top of the hour (Ann Compton). Selected the phrase when Clinton asks young people to emulate him (barf!) and said that despite the heavy rain he "basked in the golden praise of the former presidents". Then finished by saying the other star was the building itself designed to represent a "bridge to the future" (LOL).
OK I understand you dont get it OC...sorry, we'll have to agree to disagree..

I disagree. The president was invited to speak at the openning of a former president's library. If he accepts that invitiation, I beleive it is required to come up with something complimentary to say. It is the right thing to do.
I think I must have missed something- all of these posters upset at what President Bush hasn't accomplished. I won't go into all that he has, like freeing millions of people from tyranny, tax cuts etc., but he hasn't even been inaugurated yet for his second term and Congress hasn't been in session for him to DO ANYTHING YET!!!!

never said it was...I said it was beneath Pres Bush to spend 20 minutes praising Bill Clinton....he could have said a few words, congrats and left it at that....CLinton got up there and dogged the Pres in front of all those people.....I dont like it and never will for our Pres to wussy out like that....

I think that the last thing that I want to hear is the President that I was spit on for (while campaigning) talking nice about the "god" of the people who spit on me. I just don't want to hear that. Call it getting over the election syndrome, but I don't want to hear it.
Like you said, show up, say some generally bland, but nice comments about the library. Congratulat President Klintoon and his fat-ass, commie wife (oh, might want to leave that part out) on the opening of the library. Then, leave.
