I'm in MA. I was talking to a clueless Liberal at work the other day. He mentioned that "some people are talking about a Civil War". I responded, "That would be interesting. You have to think about where the guns are..."

He looked at me blankly and said, "Well, mostly here in the Northeast, right?"

He was confident that the well-armed Liberal camp would win the coming Civil War. Sigh. The Left is always more clueless than I suspect.

More like dynamite! Another spark needed? How about Tommy Franks or Schwarzkoff as SecDef??? Of course, Rummy is fine where he is at now-he is quite the lightning rod for the Dems.

We should find ways to really fire things up :)

So that's what caused O'Donnell to go ballistic on Scarborough Country! He had his knickers in a twist! LOL!

I don't know where he gets the 80% figure from, but I am quite sure his general premise is correct.

One of the biggest hoaxes of modern politics is that the GOP is some kind of paragon of fiscal constraint. If you look at a state-by-state comparison of Federal tax revenue compared to Federal outlays, you'll generally find that the Blue states are the biggest "donors" and the Red states are the biggest "recipients."

Without such things as farm subsidies and military expenditures, much of the Great Plains would be de-populating at an alarming rate today.

I don't know about the other blue states, but if Pa votes to secede we will have a civil war instate. I don't think Phila and Pitt have enough guns to force the rest of the state to go along. If Phila wants to secede, I say let them go. The northern counties and the center counties that form what is known as the T will stay with the resr of the red states. Check the red and blue map and i susprct many other blue states are the same, [Ny, Ca]

Sounds like his stress level is through the roof. Maybe he just needs a little vacation time. Shall we all get together and pitch in on his vacation. Say a two week stay at the hotel Fallujah!!!

"Also said the red states are responsible for about 80% of the welfare payments made by the federal government."
Would like to see those figures, if you exclude farm subsidies. I bet we pay net welfare to the cities. Welfare, mass transit subsidies, etc.

How about we think about stopping that?

I may be wrong, but I don't think he meant welfare in the usual sense. He said the urban areas pay more taxes to the federal government and don't get it back while rural areas don't pay as much and get more federal dollars. He was wondering if the urban or blue areas would continue to support the red states with their federal dollars. Pat Buchanan pointed out the people earning more than $50,000 in the urban areas probably voted for Bush so this was not much of an argument. The blue urban voters for Kerry do not pay that much in taxes to the federal governmnet was his point.

That is an incredible map. Observations:

It's not a regional battle, it is urban vs. suburban-rural.

When the Republicans do win cities, they are the ones surrounded by Republican territory.

Alaska looks too "thick". (See point below for reason)

KC KS and KC MO appear to be the most polarizes major adjacent counties. (Orange Count/LA also).

The chart does have a critical flaw. It uses height in proportion to county population. However, this gives the lase impression that large area counties are more significant than small ones, given the same population. Consider Maricopa county Arizona. Compare Multnomah County Oregon (Portland). Similar population and height, but Maricopa gives the impression of far more significance. This could be corrected by basing apparent height on population density, so that the apparent volume of each chuck was its population weight.

Where is Washoe County (Reno, NV)? With a half million people, it should have a height as visible as Boise and such. (Perhaps it;s just surrounded by "high plains" of moderate-sized counties.)

Those Mississippi valley blue zones sure look unimportant.

ok, i know this will sound weird, but he is a purported time traveler that was on the internet a few years ago. he has made at least one provable prediction and that is, that CERN would create mini-black-holes this last year... and they did. he says that they are key to timetravel. he also said that the winner of this 2004 election would be the last honest man to be President and that the next one would be truely psychotic. however, the Civil War would start in the spring of 2005 beginning with riots. he says in the end, it will be the cities against the farmlands. sound familliar???

the link below is to a web site devoted to all his recorded web posts and conversations with all the people who tried to trip him up... none ever succeeded and he answered all their questions in a very scientific manner... with facts. i have read every post he's ever made and have to admit, he left me scratching my head. the prediction of the CERN project would of been VERY HARD to predict.

i'm not saying i believe him, but if it does start, i will believe everything else he said. and some of it ain't pretty...

Thanks a lot for that information. I'm going to check out the link you sent me. He may very well be right about the riots starting in the spring and civil war, etc.

In case you might be interested, here's a link to an article I posted on Free Republic a couple of weeks ago talking about the coming conflict. I've also started a ping list which I call "Secession talk". Seems like quite a few people are starting to think along the same lines as I am.

Thanks again.

Thanks! This is turning out to be funny! The Dems are going off the deepend. As far as I am concerned O'Donnell can leave anytime he wants! :)

He says within 20 years certain blue states will start thinking about secession. Also said the red states are responsible for about 80% of the welfare payments made by the federal government.

What a bizarre proposition. What percentage of the taxes paid in those States are paid by Republicans(assuming his assumption on relative state contributions is correct). My experience is that Democrats receive the lion's share of government money because they work for the government or universities or otherwise swill at the public trough. It's the Republicans in those States that pay the majority of the taxes.

Larry is a little overboard lately. He needs to take a deep breath and go back on his medicine.

"BTW, what is the legal "bag limit" for liberals? Do you have to "tag" them?'

No, you don't have to tag them and you don't need a license or permit. But it may be illegal to hunt them over a baited field or use certain other tactics. You cannot, for instance, put up a sign for a free showing of a Michael Moore movie. You cannot use a replica of your local welfare office, democrat headquarters, or union hall as your hunting blind. Nor can you use replicas of democrat politicians, Kerry, Clinton, Teddy Kennedy, etc, as decoys. These things are simply not considered sporting in most jurisdictions. However, you should check with your local game commissioner. In some counties where liberals are particularly numerous, these restrictions are sometimes waived.

"The issue that got him the win was values. The Evangelicals, conservative Christians and orthodox Jews came out and voted for Bush by large majorities. Rove may ignore this fact at the expense of the republican party but I doubt it. They know where the 9 million additional votes came from."

Actually, the way I heard it was that Rove decided after the 2000 election that the reason 2000 was so close was that the evangelicals stayed home. He decided then and there to make the mobilization of the evangelical base, the cornerstone of the 2004 election.

You are correct. There was one county (or counties) in northeastern Vermont that are colored red in the latest map I saw. But it appears to me the Rhode Island is all blue. Agreed?

Pfft...There are NO blue states. Just the city verses the county/rural areas.

Excellent point!

The correct distinction is between "red states" and "blue cities".
