Britt Hume just quizzed the Fox pollster, who looks to be about 25, on the strange results of weekend polls. The pollster said there's really no difference between Fox having Kerry +2 and Battleground with Bush +3. Same number. That's social science, he says.
Then Britt brought up the more glaring state poll results Fox has. Kerry 49 Bush 43 in Florida vs. Quinnipiac having Bush 51 Kerry 43. Again, he said that those 2 polls says the same thing(!!) but the pollster REALLY looked sheepish after he said it. He said Fox is not very good at taking state polls, since they're so new at it. Florida is particularly hard, he says because of its great diversity. Also that Halloween on a Sunday is very hard to poll on. When do you call, during the day, at night? Are you under-representing people with kids who aren't answering the phone?
Britt was very gentle with this guy, but I think Britt was embarassed also. Fred Barnes said the Fox poll was junk. Fox should have seen that when they saw Kerry leading among men(??), "no one believes that. A Halloween poll, on a Sunday? Fox should have thrown that poll out not issued it."
Fox showed Wyoming as being "save for Kerry." Where in the world did they get that?
John Kerry addressing his two supporters at a recent rally --
The guy didn't know what he was talking about. Quinnipiac University Poll with Bush leads Kerry 51-43 percent in Florida with MOE of 3 is statistically significant. Bush's lead of 8 points exceeds 2x MOE. So we can be sure with 95% probability that Bush has a real lead.
If this new analyst/professor couldn't even address this, he stinks.
We know that the MSM manipulates stories in order to take down Republicans and these same people are the ones taking the polls. IF they manipulate news to favor Kerry, what makes you think that they get all honest when it comes to the polls they report.
I don't trust polls one bit, not only due to the above, but also because people are starting to catch on to the MSM.
Exactly! Those polling organizations need to fold. For someone to admit a poll is essentially worthless on TV after Fox touted it all afternoon is irresponsible journalism and polling thrown together.
Coors is in trouble in CO... Cheney went there to help him.
Does this guy realize how much damage he did to the psyche of W. supporters?? I'm sure he has no idea how many people, strong Fox supporters, actually went wobbly for the first time after reading that poll. DGIH, if you don't know what you're doing, DON'T DO IT.
Polls are a blight on the election process. Politicians use them to guage opinion and that is outrageous. We cannot outlaw them but we should impose term limits for every political office.
No rational thinking person should ever honestly answer a poll. If one does than the purpose should be solely to skewer the results.
But hey, kudos to Fox for letting Britt do this piece. Any other MSM folk openly criticizing their own polls? Uh, no.
I am sure you are correct...Coors is the one we most want to win who is currently stll behind in all those great polls. VP undoubtedly showed up to help give him a boost.
Eh? If that's the case then there is really no difference between a poll and a pile of dead possums.
Still going after the Oompa Loompa vote.
And the end of the day (tomorrow) the story of the 2004 election will be how, once again, the pollsters were off or just plain wrong.
FOX poll shows Kerry winning men by 2, which I find to be hogwash.
First of all hart is NO politician... he would never have gotten caught if he were. He is also a LIAR!
Second, Cheney was there to help COORS... who is in a tight race.
LLS
It could have something to with the EV referendum. That will never fly if it were to make a difference this year anyhow. Only the Legislatures can make such changes, and they cannot do it retroactively.
The pumpkin on the left is backwards. Or is that an L in some foreigh language?
Quite frankly, I think we'll see last ditch efforts tomorrow evening by the broadcast news networks to game the exit polling results. I really enjoyed watching the returns of the 2002 election, because none of the so-called experts had a clue how the races were going until they were done counting.
Didn't this FOX poll have Kerry leading among men by 2 points?
You can stop right there. Doesn't pass the smell test.
"L" for "Loser."
