Did you see the edit I believe NBC did on the Kerry interview? It was with Tom Brokaw and everything I read about the interview said that when questioned about the IQ comparison recently made public, Kerry said " How would they know? I have not released my record." I thought everything concerning Kerry's record was out as stated numerous times by Kerry . But when watching the interview, that portion was edited out. You could tell it was cut out mid senctence. If true, that stinks. What happened to honest journalism. I think this is important. It was so obviously biased, I would expect to see it on Drudge.
Honest journalism only exists when there is a competitive culture to out the truth... rather than activist journalism which is now taught in liberal universities.
yea it was noticed. there was some discussion threads on the topic earlier tonight.
Old Media
ABC did the same thing the night the aired their hit piece on the Swift Vets. They had an article posted on their website with a photo of Kerry in Vietnam which had in the caption one of his prized possessions was his wedding ring.
The folks on FR were discussing the article and noted Kerry was not married until after returning to the states. Within 15 minutes of that FR thread ABC deleted the part about the wedding ring from the photo caption.
cut and paste this address so they don't know you came from F.R.

The DAILY SHOW? Amazing and very sad.
Something like:
(VANITY) Dateline Thread (NBC edits Kerry's Response To Military Records)
JMO, but this needs much more attention. I don't know why the thread was originally labeled a VANITY because it quickly turned into what I would consider breaking news.
FGS
Yes, I saw it, I even made sure I did a screen capture of it so there would be a picture when they edit the site, too.
Screen captures as PROOF for when MSNBC "fixes" their website...
Also note the original contains reference to Gephardt's own gay daughter and that comment by Kerry,
right before the records "slip" was completely eliminated from the "edited" broadcast and transcript..
Mary is "fair game". Chrissy is not.
i agree with your statement. however, media has been used for political purposes for over 180 years in the united states. 100 years ago it was not uncommon for a town with 20,000 people in it to have 3 or 4 papers, each with a strong editorial page. as power migrated to washington, the once numerous set of media outlets consolidated into fewer and fewer. it is more important to report on power (washington), than elsewhere, and given the economies of scale, the news industry has evolved into a few large mainstream outlets, with priority given to washington stories.
i am not sure that media is any better or worse than 100 years ago, it's just that now there is more president bashing going on than mayor bashing. also 100 years ago the bashing tended to be a two way fight -- that is not the case today for the media covering washington. the internet (alternative outlet) appears to be subtlely tilting things, but it is too early to tell what the outcome will be.
It never existed. Ever. Anywhere in the MSM. Seriously. Go back to 1898 with the Spanish American war and newspaper owner Randolph Hearst telling his photographers: I'll provide the war, you provide the pictures.... There has always been an agenda at work.
Never has been an objective media. They were communist dupes back in the 1930's. Still are. It's their religion.
You are right. It can't be shown enough. That's actually horrifying, to think that journalism is really THAT dishonest.
Just when you think you've finally taken their measure they do something worse.
Outraged bump.
1930's? Go back to founding of the republic. The media historically always was slanted for one side or the other. What is different about today, is they basically are all slanted for only one side (excusing the ocassional "fair and balanced" moment on Fox).
And the thing is, its perfectly OK by me to be slanted, just be up front about it, say yeah, I'm Dan Rather, and I support the Democrats. Don't pretend that you are "objective", as anyone with half a brain can see that you are not.
bump
Television scam media started with Huntly Brinkly. They would convey their real feelings about the stories they were reading with the raised eyebrow, the tone change etc. Not very subtle, but compared ot now it was very subtle. They were really the first not to report the TV news straight on a nightly newscast.
What we have today is a nightmare that is no longer useful. The operatives for the democrats are smart, shallow mean types who are win at any cost and do anything. See how Kerry's team was enhanced with the Klinton team since they joined him in September.
The strange thing is that these are the same type who are in the news media now. The Kaplan guy who was at ABC then went into the Clinton operation then went to CNN then to where he moved in the early Fall, MSNBC, is the exemplar of what is going on. This Jeff Fager at CBS would be interesting to know something about. I'd bet he fits the young smart, shallow and mean profile. It would be nice if he had a trail to Clinton or some labor union organization.
Just look at that damned Imus show. All the characters he has on are leftists. There is only the slightest veneer of hiding the orientaiton as they pretend to be objective reporters.
After this election, there should be some long hard thinking about how to change this wall of propaganda. The reform would have to be strong-armed, however, because the Dems and the left know what they have and will furiously resist anything that would deter them . Look at what happened to Sinclair Broadcasting.
Politicians are wary of attacking the media complex for the obvious reason that the return fire will be furious.
