New York Times/CBS Poll
As most of you know, we here at Polipundit.com are not enthusiastic supporters of either the New York Times or CBS News, but there are some very interesting findings in their latest poll showing President Bush up 48%-45%. You can find the polls at the New York Times website. I cannot link to it.
John Kerry has a 41% favorable, 47% unfavorable rating. This is his worst rating ever.
President Bush has a 48% favorable, 41% unfavorable rating. That is his best rating since last December.
Undecided voters lean to President Bush 50%-47%, validating the Pew finding and calling the Gallup number into question.
66% of Bush voters strongly favor their candidate.
50% of Kerry voters strongly favor their candidate.
By a 49%-34% margin, voters expect President Bush to win.
President Bush has a 49%-44% job approval rating.
The right track today is 43%. In 1996, it was only 39%.
48% of voters will vote on national security issues; only 33% on domestic issues.
By a 54%-29%, voters believe the Bush Administration has made them safer.
53% of voters do not think that Kerry agrees with their priorities, his worst number ever. 42% believe he has the same.
48% of voters do not think that Bush agrees with their priorities. 49% believe he does share their priorities.
52% of voters think Kerry has leadership qualities, his lowest number ever.
62% of voters think President Bush has leadership qualities.
57% of voters are uneasy with Kerrys ability to handle a crisis.
60% believe Kerry says what people want to hear. Only 36% say that about President Bush.
53% of Americans say we did the right think in Iraq. Only 42% disagree.
31% say their families are better off than they were four years ago. 40% say about the same.
Most importantly, the percentage of voters call themselves a liberal has declined to 17%, the lowest number since 1997. 35% call themselves conservative
No they hire a polling firm to do it for them. Can't place the name of the company but when look at the data, these numbers sound on the board to me. The big news is that Bush's unfavorables are around 41%! It doesn't look at all like the country's being driven by rage and hatred of President Bush. The DUers have worked themselves into a lather thinking every one else shares their loathing of the President. Methinks these internals are going to turn DU over into one giant doom and gloom rally!
Just to add a little more confidence to the mix I think all the polls you heard about today are not accurate. These polls are always based on likely voters. This year we are going to have a lot of unlikely voters. I know this worries people but I tend to think that many of these unlikely voters are people that feel the need to keep Bush in for the security of our nation and our families. I hope and pray I'm right.
I would say yes.
I'm with you on wishing that were true but I'll reserve the celebration and/or presumptuousness until it becomes fact.
Don't worry about those polls. If these internals are correct, no way is Kerrry going to get anywhere near the White House. The driving issue of the election is, "who is going to keep us safe?" And on that issue alone, the mo's breaking for Bush. It may be too soon to tell how big he will win by but I don't have doubt the fat lady has been singing for some time now.
Florida cannot have an 11 point swing in one week or Bush leading in PA.
Correct. Gallup did a botched up poll.
One of my conservative friends calls the Times the Hypnotic Suggester.
The only way this jives with the poll numbers we have been getting from the MSM is that they expect a huge Dem voter fraud, and are setting the stage with their polls.
Conservatives outnumber liberals by MORE THAN 2 to 1!!!
Bush Rewels.
These poor ol pissant polsters can't reach half the people anymore because they don't have their cellphone numbers and when they do get one of 'em on the line, they get told what the person called thinks the pollster wants to hear in answer to the crafty questions postulated!!!
These pollsters haven't got any better crystal balls than Kerry who hasn't got any at all! I listened to Zogby on Moneytalk with what'shisname today and the best he could finally come up with is "A HUNCH!" (That Kerry would win) If they really think they know, they won't tell unless they are trying to commit a "self-fulfilling prophecy!"
So praying about it is highly legitimate because only God knows. He knows human nature better than anybody. Trouble is, the Devil is his biggest competitor and the Devil is in the polls!!!
This can only equal one thing; disheartened 'Rats that won't bother to show up and will therefore give Bush the win and not even 10,000 liberal lawyers with the Rats' pet judges will be able to win it for him.
The mainstream media is NOT going to bring this stuff up for it shows the election won't be close. And they make their living thinking Kerry has a chance. Well they may bring it out on Wednesday but it'll be too late then. Among the MSM and the Democrats a river of denial is never looking at the polls too closely to see where your weaknesses lie.
I'm waiting for the day Democrats try to run a dead candidate based on his poll numbers or that he is not Bush or something. His polls amoung dead Democrats and living brain dead kool-aid drinkers would be through the roof! "Dawn of the Dead Democrats" would be well thought of in the MSM and....Oh wait they're doing that now, sorry!
I just don't see where ANYTHING the NY Times or CBS prints is worth very much attention, even if the data is "friendly" to our side. We can't have it both ways... JMHO
**By a 54%-29%, voters believe the Bush Administration has made them safer. **
BTTT!
