Steyn is pessimistic. Give Bush Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Michigan will be close, but is in play.

The trick will be to get the MSM to award PA and NJ to Bush early, so that they can project Bush the winner, and keep Dims from bothering to vote in WA, AK and HI. That will help in Senate and congressional races. Hopefully, Fox will keep them honest, because they all want to be first.

In tense times like the runup to this election columns like this are just what nervous freepers need.

Helms:
Thanks much for the link to that article by John Fonte.

I have printed it out and am "pinging" myself for later reading. On first skim it looks to be excellent.

It's always wise to bet on reality.

God, I love this guy.

Thanks Pokey.

I've read Steyn's latest in my copy of National Review ("His Essential Kerryness") and it's another zinger. I don't know how Steyn consistently and rapidily writes these brilliant pieces. I love them and him!

Were America to elect John Kerry president, it would be ... a declaration by the people of American unexceptionalism — that ... they would be signing on to the wisdom of conventional transnationalism. -Mark Steyn

And that is a big reason why he won't win. Tranzism doesn't hold a deep appeal to the American psyche. This is among those third rail issues that go beyond liberal to progressive. The next Democrat to win a national election will be the one, like President Clinton, to successfully shed the perception of being a progressivist. Hillary could do that, with a little help from her friends in the media, but is not electable for other reasons (I hope).

Peter Jennings, the exquisitely condescending Canadian who anchors ABC News...

It's not easy to be a high school dropout and condescending at the same time, but Jennings manages to pull it off.

the liberal moral relativity

Since moral relativity is usually just someone else's desire to live free of dead-handed sermonizing (see 55 mph national speed limits, antismoking, choice, lifestyle suppression, etc), I'd like to see some cites from Hawaii touting 'moral relativity' as being a factor in swinging the vote conservative.

I can believe, though, national security concerns (fighting terrorism in the Middle East rather than in the Middle West) would  primarily account for this change instead of it being some kind of a referendum on the godhood of John Ashcroft.

More likely, we are dealing with a case of selection bias in the manner of the New York civil rights activist who thought Reagan's victory was the result of massive voter fraud, "Because I don't know anyone who voted for him."

c-mon Hawaii get out and vote for W this election...we need your support!

I've heard rumors about the HI polling places. I am going to insist on being an election monitor there (I hear they have a BIG problem in Kawaii!). If I do it right, I can convince the local Demoncratic party that I am one of them and needed to keep the evil republicans from stealing a state.

Of course, I have already voted absentee so I am free for a while.

There's another reason to vote for Bush. If Kerry wins, no more Steyn columns!

This article by Fonte blew me away and seems to explain in significant ways (Victor David Hansen seems to be on board with this bigger theory) what is and has been happening under our noses. Its hard to explain and strikes me as very serious. Thanks.

You bet they are getting fed up with liberalisms. And under their so-called "affirmative action" special rights for "natives" only which includes fully funded college, special property exemptions, etc.

Another great Steyn article!

So my hunch that that first Harris poll is the correct one is only that — a hunch that Bush is ahead outside the margin of error. Unfortunately, on election day, he also has to be ahead outside the margin of lawyer, which is a tougher call. The Democrats already have thousands of chad-chasers circling the courthouses in Florida, Ohio, New Mexico and even New Hampshire, alas. It’s important for Bush to win big enough both to compensate for Democrat fraud and to deter litigation.

Yeah ! That's exactly what I've been saying!

I'll say it again!:

To ALL Freepers and Lurker voters:

GO to the polls and vote for Bush. Take your friends with you to do the same. If you know any Zell Miller type Democrats that support Bush and they are voting for him, take them as well.

Vote EARLY to avoid the rush. If you wait until November 2nd, make SURE to go and vote!! And if you do wait until November 2nd, remember:

IGNORE ANYTHING IN THE MEDIA YOU HEAR (i.e., making a fast, early call in Florida for Kerry, etc.). WE CAN AVOID A REPEAT OF THE FLORIDA ELECTION DEBACLE OF 2000 THIS YEAR IF GOP TURNOUT IS STRONG, imho.

[Expletive deleted] !!!
