Get off your rear and get out the vote!

Posted on 10/23/2004 8:15:39 PM PDT by 1stFreedom

OK, it's time to stop preaching to the chior. Stop e-mailing your friends the latest polls results and articles by political/religious leaders. This does absolutely nothing to help Bush win the election.

The most important thing you can do in this election (aside from voting) is to get involved in the final 72 hour push to get out the vote.

Amongst my own circle of friends and associates, I know numerous people who are going on retreats the last weekend in October. These are the same "lecture circuit" Catholics who make every lecture and retreat within a 50 mile radius, attend daily mass, and at the same time complain about the evil which is permitted in our society (abortion) etc.

The same people make annual retreats to Lake George, the Jersey Shore, or other vacation areas. Three day weekends are excuses to go back to the lakes, etc. Who knows how many have called in sick or used personal days to take care of personal business. Yet the very same people have a NEGATIVE interest in helping to elect a pro-life, pro-family president.

Yet very few of these people are actually doing anything else except for voting in a State that is already lost to Kerry.

It's time to take a day or two to put the faith into action and come on down to a battleground State to get out the vote. IF YOU ARE READING THIS, IT MEANS YOU!!

I'm helping some pro-life leaders to organize PA and OH get out the vote efforts. If you live in NJ, NY, or PA, I can get you involved in the 72 hour push in PA. If you live near or in OH, I can do the same.

Get off your duff and help get out the vote -- or don't even dare to complain if you have to say "President Kerry" come Nov. 3rd.

And you can always make up the retreats you miss next year, or next month for that matter!

There is one and only one way to win this year - to work to get out the vote (as many have already been working to do.) Massive voter fraud is going on. There is only one answer. Massive turn out of the votes. Otherwise, we are history.

Yes, it probably comes down to turnout versus vote fraud. Rumors I hear suggest that there is a lot of quiet effort being made to counter vote fraud, but we probably won't know how well it worked unless we win.

Will they send me to a place where I can really make a difference? I'm not needed here in my area - and that's a fact. But if they are sending people to do poll watching or after campaign work in a state where it will make difference, I'm in...

Are they sending troops to battleground states?

Sounds like good intentions - don't let them drop. You are needed somewhere. Please call local GOP or national GOP. OK? Maybe you will inspire some others to do the same. Every soldier counts.

Are you sure that you want to strip workers from New Jersey? I know that recent polls have swung New Jersey back to Senator Kerry, but polls are fickle. If the New Jersey will stay in New Jersey and make their effort there, they might be able to give us a surprise 15 EV bonus.

Either way, thank you for this post. There is still time for people to help by volunteering to make phone calls, wave signs, poll watch, and knock on doors. Louisiana is pretty solid for the president, but I'm involved in the campaign to give us our first Republican US Senator since Reconstruction. I made calls on three nights last week, and I walked neighborhoods on Saturday. I'm getting very positive responses from the folks that I meet.

I'm not quite sure where the current need lies, but I'm guessing you'll be shipped to where you'll do the most good. Heck, I'd hope they wouldn't be sending volunteers to Idaho to help out Senator Mike Crapo with his re-election. Although with Hawaii now being in play for Bush, that'd be great to luck out and get sent there.

Back on topic, it sounds like they are serious about funneling people into the hot spots. And as it stands now, any Presidential battleground state is a hot spot (anyone else getting a bit nervous about the latest headlines/polls?). Here's a couple statements from the http://72hour.com FAQ:

· How will I get to my state and where will I be staying?
You have been assigned to a specific county and city. Once you return the attached form, we will make your airline, hotel and, in some cases, rental car reservations for you.

· Am I working for the Bush campaign or the RNC?
You are working as a volunteer for the RNC and your efforts will be focused on reelecting our Republican team.

It's getting kinda late in the game and I'm not sure if they're still taking volunteers through this website (since they would need to assess need and make arrangements for you), but I encourage you (and anyone else with the time or the passion) to contact the 72 hour program (or any RNC office) and bust some tail in the coming week.

I just get this sick feeling in my stomach, as TV and Radio conservatives exude confidence in a Bush win, that it's taking some of the edge of the urgency that's needed to get people to the polls. They should be pumping people up, and not telling them to relax.

I signed on a couple of days ago, but have heard nothing back. I'll still go down and vote early, just in case they call.
