Dear God, I can't believe it !! Christoher Reeve's body is hardly cold and Paul Begala, the left-wing, radical co-host of CNN's Crossfire,is dancing on his casket already. One can't say he's "dancing on his grave" because he isn't even in the ground yet. During his despicable monologue today he said that "Christopher Reeve was mentioned in Friday night's debate by HIS FRIEND, John Kerry." He then went on to say that Christopher Reeve had committed his life to lobbying for stem cell research in hopes of finding a cure for his paralysis. He did not fail to mention that George W. Bush opposes embryonic stem cell research but John Kerry and Nancy Reagan favor it.
If it wasn't for low class, this guy and the Dims would have no class at all. Hopefully, this will put a bad taste in the mouth of honorable Americans.
I think the theory is that stem-cell research is the foundation of "nerve cell regeneration".
I knew the RATs would do this. Crocodile tears for Christopher Reeve's death and blame GW. If only stem cell research had gone through 100 per cent! It's GW's fault! He killed poor Christopher Reeve! If they could get people to believe GW was the AntiChrist, they'd try that. Well, that's probably their Oct. surprise.
kinda like saying Orbille and Wilbur Wright killed Paul
Wellstone. Well, there are dims somewhere who believe that.
I'm wondering how long until they tell us Christopher Reeve wouldn't have this injury if George Bush hadn't dragged him behind that pick up truck.
It's not a bad thing. But his altruism is sadly transparent.
I haven't read this whole thread yet so I don't know if it's applicable, but...
We can have certain beliefs about Reeve's responsibility for his injury (and I don't believe he ever blamed anyone, it was an accident and sometimes those things happen).
We can also disagree with some of the positions he took in his political activism in the last decade of his life.
BUT - right now is probably not the time to be getting heated about it - he and his family have been through a tremendous loss over this past several years and are entitled to some respect.
I think I made one of the first posts mentioning his death on FR (though I did not post the first or second thread, both of which have been pulled), and I did that because the political implications were worth discussing here.
I think that incidents of distasteful political opportunism should be monitored and TACTFULLY challenged, but we ought to be able to do that in a way that is not disrespectful to the late actor.
Reeve is dead, and we have until the end of time to be critical of his life choices and political leanings. The enemy today, here and now, is Kerry/Edwards and the Democrat campaign, and where we find any of them making political hay out of this is probably what we ought to be discussing here < /my .02 >.

"That would mean they had to tell the truth. They can't do that."
They can't handle the truth.
I'd guess there is a real possibility of that, but still there is plausible deniability or whatever it's called. Even if Kerry did know about Reeve's failing health, it's still hard to find a political discussion about stem cell research that doesn't mention his name. Whether Reeve liked it or not, he (and to a lesser extent Ronald Reagan) was the de-facto poster child for the political aspect of the issue. Under any circumstances, Kerry would not have spoken publicly on the issue without mentioning his name, and there's not a pundit on earth who doesn't recognize that.
Ouch!!
You're correct... funny how the good stuff our President does seems to be lost in the dust -- he doesn't like to badmouth the other person or brag about what he's done...
He said some of them were contaminated with MOUSE CELLS. Not sure what it means, but I'm quite sure MOUSE CELLS did not spontaneously emerge in the cell collections, but maybe were present in some material as part of ongoing experiments. Hardly contaminated. The comment sounded really stupid when he said it. I think he got a complete pass on it everywhere but here, where I made mention of it in the live thread.
Christopher Reeve could have given up and whined or try and make lemmonaid out of lemmons. He chose the latter... I think people making some comments should think about the possibility of his wife and children reading them.
What do we expect...Kerry's stumper today did not say, but implied "Bush is to blame for Reeves death, don't we know that fetus stem-cells would have saved him, but Bush stopped the research, etc...."
If C. Reeves was such a good friend, Kerry would have confined his "sympathy" to a phone call to Reeves widow rather than exploiting his death to take another shot at Bush....
