XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

Kerry escaped having to defend his record

Lehrer did try to put Kerry on the spot with the "specify what you would do" questions. A common criticism of Kerry is he gives no specifics, even says he won't reveal his plans until after the election.

Kerry masterfully sidestepped the specifics. Story of his fantasy-driven life.

"The debate rules allowed a paper for notetaking."

Boy did JFKerry take some notes, maybe he was just copying on to "Commission" provided paper, when finished slipped his notecards in any of his pockets.

I sure wish I have recorded the debate, the event may not even be on camera of him returning the "item" back to a pocket.

On substance Bush won - but I knew what he was trying to say. When I judge something I try and thing what would Joe Blow be thinking - Joe Blow thinks Kerry won the debate. It is the Kennedy vs Nixon debate thing - to those who watched TV Kennedy won - to those that listend on the radio Nixon won.

I mean many think Bush won because Gore sighed during that debate. I mean that is the level of sophistication the majority of the electorate inhabit.

Kerry's people spun it as "He was only an informal adviser" - not explaining the "informality" of a person who was set to give a major speech for Kerry at the DNC convention. Also spun was that it was a Republican leak - but that would have occured after the convention. The press dutifully bought the "informal" line, the lines about "only copies" and such. It was a pre-convetion dump by his own people.

Exactly. And Sandy Berger just spoke for Kerry a few weeks ago, but nobody in the media bothered to ask him about him stuffing documents in his pants.

That's why I think it's laughable that some people on this thread assume Kerry couldn't have cheated, because he'd have too much to lose. You would think smuggling out classified documents from the National Archives would cause somebody to be permanently disgraced. But Berger is still speaking for Kerry!

You know what Kerry would have said if he had gotten caught red-handed? He would have used the Sandy Berger "sloppy" defense and say he forgot he couldn't bring in notes. And he would question the timing of the charge, and say we need to get back to the real issues. And that would have been the end of the story.

What??? Are you now claiming a statute of limitations on cheating? (Sounds like a Carville/Begala line.)

You're still missing the point. Whether Bush failed to say something then (if you assume he saw) or if he doesn't want to make a point of it doesn't matter.

This FRAUD wants to be our president and we have a say as to what WE WANT TO MAKE AN ISSUE. As with the Swiftvets & Kerry's military record and with Dan Rather's & the democrat supplied forged TANG documents, Bush and company can decide not to challenge. But that doesn't mean we have to fall in line and keep quit. After all if we wanted to be mindless party hacks waiting for the party line, we would be democrats.

Whatever you point is - the number of posts on this thread is about to pass 1,000 (while over 30,000 have viewed it). So I'd say your objections aren't doing much good. But, if you're intentions are honest, keep following this issue and you may get the real point eventually.

What a non issue...

Sure. And if you were interviewing job applicants and you found found out one of them acted dishonestly to gain an advantage over the others, you'd think that was a non-issue too, right?

The election will decide who is leader of the Free World...

...whose finger will be on the nuclear button...

...who will decide how we handle securing the homeland and eliminating the Islamofascists...

...who will hold the lives of my nephew, my buddies, and many Freepers in his hands by serving as their commander-in-chief...

...who will be the chief law enforcement officer of our nation...

...who will appoint three or four Supremes who can either steal our liberty or protect it.

Yeah, cheating in order to get such a nitnoy minimum wage job is really no big deal at all.

I guess it has to do with if you think Bush won or lost. Now if you are to push the ethical angle be careful - because for it not to look like Bush campaign trying to save a loss/sour grapes - the consensus has to be that Bush won - and the consensus is that Bush lost the debate.

I was watching my own cap of the debates, and watched the beginning when Kerry pulled something out of his pocket... the camera angle on my recording indicated a pen.

Do you think that if Bush was caught taking notes out, the RATs would ignore publicizing it, because Kerry "won" the debate? I don't think so.

"Thank you. Can you look at the end of the debate and see if Kerry pulled a device out of his ear?"

Kerry is trying to pull an election out of his a$$.

Would they wait 4-5 days later to bring it out? Or would the 'RATS' strike when the striking was hot?

Drudge says that he has information which he has not posted regarding a response from the KErry campaign. Supposedly this is front page on New York Times. Fox says it is a pen.

If it really is a pen, it should be easy to recreate the video and show everyone.
