What happened in Huntington, West Virginia yesterday is an affront to everything we, as a union, pride ourselves to represent. We extend our apologies to the Parlock family, especially Sophia, for the distress one of our overzealous members caused them.
I have personally taken steps to address this issue internally, and will take immediate disciplinary action to the full extent allowed under U.S. Department of Labor regulations and the constitution of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.
It is my hope that this incident reminds all of our members that every last citizen in this country has the right to express his or herself freely. Not one single one of us has the right to tell them otherwise.

What part of 'union thug' don't you understand?
While HE may have been previously attacked, it is fairly pragmatic that people won't attack a three-year-old in front of cameras
I never said that. They COULD have been shot too. But one expects people to not be idiots.
We're not talking about 'people', we're talking about Kerry-supporting union goons. I'd count on them being idiots. They're almost idiots by definition.
While HE may have been previously attacked, it is fairly pragmatic that people won't attack a three-year-old in front of cameras. These people have cost Kerry-Edwards far more nationwide than the trip into WV could possibly have gained. Pragmatically, one would not expect people with half a brain to do that. If anything, Mr. Parlock is guilty only in overestimating the basic intelligence of those around him.
Tell you what, you can bet your children's lives on 'fairly pragrmatic'. I'll stick to 'pragmatic'. You're counting on these guys not being psychotic, not being borderline retarded, and not being drunk.
Yes, Parlock is guilty of overestimating their inttelligence. That, IMO, is a serious mistake to make when you're in charge of a 3-year old. YMMV.
In any given situation, more than one person can be wrong, and for different reasons.
Now is that too complicated for you?
This is one of the best apology I have read in a long time. None of the mushy (I am sorry if anyone was offended blah blah blah), but a staight out and out admission of wrong, and a course of action to correct it.
I may not agree with thier views, but, I will give credit where credit is due.
Now is that too complicated for you?

It's less than I expected from you..
GOT IT?
Or is that too tough for you professor?
A bump for little patriot Sophia.
Quinn and Rose did this morning. They also talked about the Borders Union page and mentioned FreeRepublic.
A bump for little patriot Sophia.
:) For Sophia.. !
Nothing will happen to this union member. The so-called "apology" is for public consumption and will be seen as such by the offender, his local officers and his immediate shop steward. The worst that will happen to this child molester is that he'll be told to dress in civvies when he's out doing his Brownshirt duties.
"Internationals" have referred to themselves as such for over one hundred years. Back in the "old days" of radical unionism, to be "Internationalist" was to sympathize with the plight of workers the world over and to work towards an "international" form of workers brotherhood.
It would seem that the union president apologizing proves it was not a hoax.
As for all those who doubted Parlock, I think everyone owes him and his family an apology. If people wish to be skeptical, that's fine, but they should not say things to hurt the family while they are making up their minds. The union caused this family enough hurt without FR pseudo detectives causing more collateral damage.
The trolls became pied pipers, rather successful ones at that. I hoped we might be smarter.
I'd like to see the public announcement of the punishment meted out on the individual(s) involved and not just swept under the rug (such as 'shame on you for getting caught on camera).
You and me both.
I wonder what he'd say if it wasn't caught on camera?
Are the DUers now calling the president of the union a right wing plant?
Well compared to them he very well might be. but then the same could be said of anyone to the right of Lenin.
Your A.N.S.W.E.R.? Follow the money.
You're just bitter about the 1970's installation of bank teller cameras. Of course wearing your letter jacket didn't help.
Oh, come on. Most such unions are 90%+ American membership. And it's his title. There's lots of reasons to dump on these guys (though not this statement -- I thought it was quite straightforward and honest. check the followup, but 'til then . . . ). Now, if they are using Canadian members' dues for American campaigning, you might have a point, but just to use their full title doesn't seem a mortal sin -- or even a venial one!
It's more than that. Notice that the International Union T-shirts in the picture in Post #23 have no Local chapter #.
International Unions are supposed to tell you that they are with Local #111, or whatever, ditto for their advertisements.
But the International Union goons in that picture are all sporting T-shirts with "International" splattered all over them, but no "Local" #.
So I'm simply saying that it is a *fair* question to ask why this *international* union is apparently campaigning illegally for an American candidate in West Virginia.

Headline: "Union thug assaults three-year-old girl--John Edwards stands by and does nothing to stop him."
That's the reason I became a master of disguise. My latest, that of a dessicated middle-aged alcoholic, is working like a charm.
Of course wearing your letter jacket didn't help.
I stole that jacket too. I don't know if they would have caught me at all, even if I hadn't written the note on the back of one of my own checks.
