DRUDGE SIREN:
CBS Guard Documents Traced to Texas Kinko's...
WASH POST: Documents allegedly written by deceased officer that raised questions about Bush's service with Texas National Guard bore markings showing they had been faxed to CBS News from a Kinko's copy shop in Abilene, Texas... Developing...
LOL, man this place never fails to entertain. Freeper peoples are the most hilarious sort.
Don't forget to search the fax internal memory, the printer memory, and the fax and copier keypad controller memory, just like it says to do in the DOJ guidlines.
Yes, they did. We had one in the town where I attended college in the late '60s.
Well, I guess my memory is fading. Kinko's website says their first store was opened in 1970. The one I went to was their second store, on the corner of U.S 1 and Foothill Blvd. in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Yes, they would have listed his name. The account would accrue every 30 days, and a statement sent afterwards. It would itemize all transactions. If he sent a fax or used a computer and put it on his account, they would have an electronic record of it.
Roger, but you should keep an eye on your neighbors. :-)
Have a good one. I am home fixing radiator in the "old" suburban. It has about a 3 inch crack. Hope solder will hold as a new one is right at $200.00 with tax.

Memos on Bush Are Fake but Accurate, Typist Says
By MAUREEN BALLEZA and KATE ZERNIKE
NEW YORK TIMES.COM http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/15/politics/campaign/15guard.html
Published: September 15, 2004
HOUSTON, Sept. 14 - The secretary for the squadron commander purported to be the author of now-disputed memorandums questioning President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard said Tuesday that she never typed the documents and believed that they are fakes.....
So who will be the first one to get their hands on the security camera footage from this Kinkos?
Not only are the CBS National Guard documents forged, but the important points made in them are clear fabrications. Specifically, the two important points, harped on endlessly by CBS and the other liberal media (like the NYT), are:
1. Bush disobeyed a direct order of his commanding officer. The memo states that Bush is ordered to appear for a physical on May 15. Bush did not do so, and the media concludes that Bush disobeyed the order, and so was insubordinate. This was the major point made by the NYT in its false article.
There is only one problem: It did not happen. Other pilots point out that pilots were not ordered to appear for a physical. The deadline for the physical was established by Air Force rules, and was the pilot's birthday. The pilot was required by rule to appear for a physical every year on or before his birthday. Bush's birthday was July 6, so it would not have been appropriate to order him to appear for a physical on May 15. Of course, Bush never appeared for a July 6 physical either, but that's because he had already transferred out of the Texas Air National Guard by that time. The obvious conclusion is that the part of the memo which orders Bush to appear for a physical is a fabrication.
2. Bush's commanding officer was asked to sugar coat Bush's record and give him a rating even though Bush was absent. In the memos, Killian expresses consternation that he is being asked to rate Bush even though Bush was absent. The implication which is drawn by the media is that Bush's performance was substandard. The implication drawn by the Democrats is that Bush was AWOL.
However, that aspect of the memos is also a clear fabrication. The reaons is that Killian had no reason to be consternated by Bush's absence because Killian himself had already signed an order (which is clearly authentic, and looks completely different from the forged memos), which authorized Bush to transfer out of the Texas Air National Guard to the Alabama National Guard. So why would he now be upset that Bush was not there? It makes no sense, and was obviously a fabrication by the forger. As further proof that it is a fabrication, note that the memo states that Col. Staudt was the one exerting pressure on Killian to sugar coat the record. However, Col. Staudt had been retired for more than 1-1/2 years by that time. Even Killian's secretary, who is a Bush hater, stated that Col. Staudt did not exert pressure on Killian.
Dan Rather's insistence that the orders may be fake but the information is true is itself an obvious lie. This whole episode really is worse than Watergate. It's like Watergate with a complicit media. In Watergate, most of the people went to jail because they lied to investigators or to Congress. As in Watergate, I think we need an investigation. Let's give these people an opportunity to testify before Congress and either come clean and admit they lied, or try to perpetuate their lies, and go to jail, which is what they really deserve.
"Forged" is the wrong word to use. Forgery implies that there is a real version of the document somewhere. Since there is no real document, the term "fabrication" is better.
It is a lie within a lie. And the lie within is being treated as true. Butressed by a 86 year old secretary who is still blabbing gossip 30 years later. Sort of amusing when you think of it.
As a former Georgia Air National Guardsmen, it seems correct to add that there are some civilians in the Air Guard (at the state level) who are called "purple suiters".
These people work with both the Green suiters (Army Guard) and the blue suiters (Air Guard) service members.
Depending upon the origination of the document, it is always possible that a purple-suiter uses the wrong format or vernacular.
Still, I believe these documents are forged.
And it would have a time-date stamp of after the story. However, if the time-date stamp was earlier this summer, Lenny, you would have saved the lives of millions of registered voters.
Yah, what they didn't have is Fed-Ex Kinko's.
When you use one of those you have to pass several on/in the way!
Im y opinion, the only fraud here is journalism fraud. The only possible damage is defamation of GWB's reputation. When you get to that fraud statute, check for the element of damages. As far as I know, other than the boudary set by defamation, it is not illegal to promulagate false history when the false or forged document has no affect on current legal rights and priviledges.
