~ MONDAY FAVORITES ~ This week: What is your favorite candy or sweets? |
In our continuing series about your favorites, we ask this week about candy. What is your favorite candy? Do you have a candy preference? Do you have a particular sweet tooth for a certain sugar fix that you would like to share? Perhaps you have a childhood favorite that your grandmother or mom made. Share with everyone on the thread about your favorite candy/sweets. If you have a picture, then post it for all of us to enjoy. As always, you can share with us via FReepmail or email (canteenusa@canteenusa.com). |

More than 300 baby squirrels
Oh no, they are feeding those critters!! Hope they don't get released in my state. :-)
Good Afternoon troops!! Good Afternoon everyone! I have now figured out how to get to almost all of my classes (I think I was born with an anti-sense of direction). I guess you could say getting lost is now a MINOR problem (bad pun, huh?). Anyway, here is today's humor attempt!
Sandy began a job as an elementary school counselor and she was eager to help. One day during recess she noticed a girl standing by herself on one side of a playing field while the rest of the kids enjoyed a game of soccer at the other.
Sandy approached and asked if she was all right.
The girl said she was.
A little while later, however, Sandy noticed the girl was in the same spot, still by herself.
Approaching again, Sandy offered, "Would you like me to be your friend?"
The girl hesitated, then said, "Okay," looking at the woman suspiciously.
Feeling she was making progress, Sandy then asked, "Why are you standing here all alone?"
"Because," the little girl said with great exasperation, "I'm the goalie!"
And now for a joke from my little brother who wants to help make the troops laugh:
When is it bad luck to see a black cat?
When you are a mouse!
You and your brother both tell good jokes! ;)
How do you look military records on WWII vet. I think my deceased father in law was involved in something very significant during the Battle of the Bulge. He only spoke about the schrapnel in his leg.
Do I need service numbers or can you search by name and age?
I loved Mary Janes when I was a kid. Seem to have lost my taste for Peanut butter as I have aged..

Eye Candy!
At the turn of the 20th Century, many of Americas roads were no more than rutted trails filled with mud when it rained and with choking dust when it was dry. In the Western states, there was often no road at all.

At the outset of the Spanish-American War, President McKinley established a "war room" in the White House to coordinate military planning. The room was located next to the President's office and served as the war's command center. Detailed maps studded its walls and 25 telegraph lines connected it to important military points. This centralizing of communications was a first. The French Ambassador was so impressed that he attributed America's success in the war to "the facilities for quick communications afforded by this marvelously equipped department."

Prior to World War II, black members of the American armed forces were relegated to non-combat roles such as kitchen duty and road construction. This situation changed as the unprecedented combat demands of the war necessitated that all able-bodied men take their place on the firing line.
