'Millions' sneaking over US border
The Australian ^ | September 13, 2004 | AFP

Posted on 09/12/2004 1:12:28 PM PDT by yonif

THREE million people are expected to enter the United States illegally this year, according to a report today.

The number of illegal immigrants, most of whom slip across the long border with Mexico, was three times the number of legal immigrants, Time magazine said.

Border patrols only listed illegal immigrants as being Mexicans or from other nations, without keeping tallies on how many came from third countries, it said.

But the list of other countries included Afghanistan, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, El Salvador, Guatemala, Iran, Iraq, Nicaragua, Russia and Venezuela.

Border controls have become a key political issue since the September 11, 2001 attacks, with critics fearing that would-be terrorists could illegally enter the country to conduct new strikes.

Here's how it works: the huge influx of immigrants, legal or illegal, depress per capita wages but raise overall income, which increases aggregate demand. This solves the old problem...how can workers buy your products if their wages are so low? easy...keep wages low but add lots of workers. At the same time, the new immigrants keep the demand for real estate at astronomical levels, since they tend to cluster in areas where the rich own property. The social and economic costs of cheap labor are passed on to the middle class...we get to pick up the cost of their health care and other welfare benefits, subsidising the cheap wages with our tax dollars. It's the American elite's version of economic Heaven.

The problem is that neither side of the aisle (Republican or Democrat) will deal with this issue.

| Disagree. Nonenforcement is both part of their policies. Its a market tactic to suppress the wages of lower and middle income Americans and legal residents. Big campaign donations behind it.

What's with the current trend to inappropriately suffix words with ist? It's not Islamist terror groups, it's Islamic terror groups.

The Governor was ask: what can be done about it? The Governor was at a loss. He said he had no idea.

Perhaps this Governor is better suited to be a "sanitary Engineer" or the like, and not tote such a responsible position.

What is that light the Army uses for night time?

Night vision goggles, and they are (or comparable equipment) also available to the public.

Shaking my head...

When will it end? Will it end with 10,000 more dead U.S. citizens? Will it end when a stadium or a small city is blown up? Will it end when L.A. or New York are blown off the map?

I will couch my words until after the election, but that is the end for me. I will not remain silent any longer after that.

Judgement day is coming. I'm not going to let it be said I didn't raise my voice in opposition.

If, during the Cold War, our borders were this unguarded that millions were coming across, the USSR would have taken full advantage. They would have infiltrated, built up internal forces, and eventually made their move to destroy the United States from within.

So, what makes any politician think it isn't happening now? If any politician is stupid enough to think al-Qaeda and other groups are not infiltrating, those politicians need to see immediate retirement; they failed in their Constitutional duty to defend and protect.

Your right, for the members of the right side of the isle, haven't jumped the isle toting knives to coerce the left side to stop playing politics and and start doing what is best for our country as a whole as they were voted to position to do. /s

Even at one-half of one one percent that is still 15,000. If only this percentage are those who want to see the U.S. harmed no matter where they're from that is a rather sizeable number for THIS YEAR alone. Reports are that there are about 20,000 insurgents in all of Iraq killing our soldiers who are fairly heavily armed and trained. And our borders have been wide open for how long since 9-11 not counting the run up to that now infamous day?!

Logically, it would be an increase. These people have to know we are slowly getting on to this and want to get in before the door slams shut.

I've seen video's on the tube shot with infrared cameras...it looks lke an invasion of locusts. I fear it's gonna take a lot more than video to shock the American public into what is happening.

And where did you see ME using that word?  Your picking on the wrong person, my friend.  I refer to them as "immigrants" or Muslims.

Mr. Mojo for one used the word you hate so much.  So why don't you pick on HIS azz instead of ME?  Why did you think that "I" used that word.  Go back through the thread.  Recheck it before you jump on someone.
