Per FoxNews: Pentagon questioning PO Box Number

James Rosen just reported that the Pentagon questions the use of a PO Box on a memo, and that the PO Box may never have been used by that unit saying it seems highly unlikely that they would have PO Box containing sequential numbers. Standard military practice has always been to place the actual physical address on the letter head.

I do, however, question the use of the number in early 1970s.

To me, this is a stronger indication of a forgery than the whole proportional type business.

Proportional type is impossible with a typewriter. So is the centering that they did. Also the use of a lowercase 'L' for a one, which is just a way to trick MS Word into not superscripting '1st'. There is more evidence here of forgery than their was for murder at the OJ trail.

I suggested that yesterday, all they need to do is contact that unit and find out if they still have there old QM logs from that era, case solved.

My God! How stupid can they be? I mean six weeks and no one questioned this address which is the most obvious red flag of all. How bad did they have to want to run this to ignore it?

I checked this out. The same address appears on a legit Bush military form, but it is for the 147th Fighter Interceptor GROUP. While that might be real address for the Group, this same address on the fake Bush docs is at the top of the page for the SQUADRON. Why would the squadron have the same P.O. Box as the Group? Can any former ANG people help me out on this one? My units never used P.O. Boxes.

Hard to believe that someone who went to the trouble of creating a forgery with intent to influence a presidential election(and thus knew the doc would be under intense scrutiny) would be so utterly stupid as to use a blatently fake number. Almost inconceivable, unless:

1) that is the actual po box, which someone at the Ellington Base decided to use because it was easy to remember

2) they wanted this to be caught as a forgery

tinfoil c) to create a Watergate-style faux-scandal where the Dems fake the doc, make it easy to spot as fake, then blame the GOP for faking it, which the media picks up and runs with, and then they start calling for defeating/impeaching and prosecuting President Bush. If they think they are too far down in the polls, why not a 'muddy the waters' Hail Mary?

Looks like the address is OK. There's plenty of other evidence of forgery, though.

they did not even use a letterhead, but a typed address heading, without all the other heading info;

however, as it was a memo to himself going into his own deskdrawer, this would not be proof of a forgery.

He would have put the correct address on it, if he bothered to put an address header on it at all.
