James Rosen just reported that the Pentagon questions the use of a PO Box on a memo, and that the PO Box may never have been used by that unit saying it seems highly unlikely that they would have PO Box containing sequential numbers. Standard military practice has always been to place the actual physical address on the letter head.
This is really getting good. Ha-ha-ha!
If I'm not mistaken, it was box 34567... "That's the combination on my luggage!" -- Obscure SpaceBalls reference. :)
P. O. Box 234567 HangRather, Texas
PO Box 34567
I tried to read everything here yesterday. Did anyone catch this on FR? Pretty easy to overlook, but it does make the likelihood these are fake go up by logrithmic proportions..
Dan Rather: "If the PO Box was 12345, I would have questioned it!"
I knew "PO Box 34567" was suspicious...
To me, this is a stronger indication of a forgery than the whole proportional type business.
Not obsure to me, I love that movie. May the schwartz be with you.
I wondered about that. Perhaps the forger couldn't find the old address (presumably not a facility on an AFB or Federal land) so they whipped up something.
"Multiple inbounds, all points of the compass...VAMPIRE VAMPIRE VAMPIRE!"
bump
Too sweet. This is getting SOOOOOOO fun.
Next thing you know, there will be a memo out about how President Bush always had coffee while he watched Mr. Radar at the ANG station.
NOt just the sequential number, but any POBox at all.
FReepers have discussed the PO Box and the Zip Code ad naseum yesterday.
A point was raised by one FReeper that the PO Boxes back
in '72 and '73 would have been numbered from 001 to 999
with the last two digits of the zip code as a the fourth and fifth digit of the zip code.
Whoever forged these documents is pretty darn stupid.
I pinged you guys to this on the Rush thread!!
Awesome catch!
"Comb the desert!"
I asked this question earlier today and was directed to the thread from yesterday. The thread had several hundred posts so I didn't go through all of them. I'm glad this is being questioned. It looked unusual to me and seems to be something that could easily be verfied.
my new theory: these are faked so badly that they were originally an DNC internal parody/joke that someone took the wrong way and grabbed onto it as a "find".
