If NBC and ABC want to be competitive and knock CBS out of the ballpark they will jump on this quickly. I have a feeling they will.

Not if last night's Night line is any example.

This is the Clintoon’s October surprise a month early.

This has John Kerry written all over it... he lied and forged his way thru his Viet Nam service, his anti-war activities and his tall tales to the media and the US Senate. John Kerry is a criminal.

It's a tossup. Hillary or Kerry. I'd like to take them both out. Hillary would do it to make the documents look fake and Kerry would make them look fake out of stupidity. .

And, of course, my John F. Kerry Timeline.

Dan Rather's daughter has some 'splaining to do.

Is that truth or rumor? Is his daughter the one who gave Rather the memo????? If so, where did SHE get it?!

CBS are not trying to protect their sources.

They are trying to protect themselves.

When and If it becomes obvious to Americans that CBS were in wholesale colusion with the DNC, or unknown sources hostile to the President, any cloak of objectivity will vanish.

It doesn't add to their credibility that they were so interested in destroying President Bush that they fell for such a transparent scam either.

If it came from the Kerry campaign (as seems likely), it may have come from his new hatchet men from the Clinton orbit. That may provide a great big shot of euthanasia to any future bid Hillary may make for the presidency. In 2006, we have to defeat her reelection bid for Senator, but we can count on enormous effort from all the Bush-haters, Republican-haters, and conservative-haters all over the country.
The Democratic Party is shredding, and we get to watch!

>>>RATHER: Not even discussed, nor should it be. I want to make clear to you, I want to make clear to you if I have not made clear to you, that this story is true, and that more important questions than how we got the story, which is where those who don't like the story like to put the emphasis, the more important question is what are the answers to the questions raised in the story, which I just gave you earlier<<<<

Babbling much?

Flashback: Dan Rather, Democratic Fundraiser

The Washington Post gave front-page play on Wednesday to Howard Kurtz's report that Dan Rather helped raise $20,000 for the Travis County Democratic Party in Austin, Texas. When he was confronted with the story, Democrat Dan had some curious things to say.

Sounding an awful like Al Gore tumbling out of a Buddhist temple, Rather claimed he hadn't realized beforehand that the event was a fundraiser. But Dan "stopped short" of "saying he would not have attended had he known in advance that he was being used to raise money." But why stop short of making such an easy, perfunctory statement? Because the event was co-sponsored by Robin Rather, the anchorman's daughter and a "Texas environmentalist and marketing executive" who's eyeing a run for Mayor of Austin.

I found this late last night. Some things have been clarified, but a lot of it still isn't: Note #19
1-- proportional spacing not generally available
2 -- superscripts not generally available
3 - small "th" single element not generally available
4 - Smart quotes. Curved apostrophes and quotation marks were not available
5-The blurriness of the copy indicates it was recopied dozens of times, tactic of forgers
6--Signature block. Typical authentic military signature block has name, then rank, then on the next line the person's position. This just has rank beneath the name.
7--Margins. These look like a computer's unjustified default, not the way a person typing would have done it.
8 -- Date usually with three letters, or in form as 110471.
9 - words run over consistent with word processor
10 - may be a Times Roman or similar font not generally available then (per Haas Atlas)
11 - signature looks faked
12 - no errors and whiteout
13 - no letterhead
14 - exact match for Microsoft Word Processor
15 - Paper size problem, Air Force and Guard did not use 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper until the 1980s.
16 - Overlap analysis is an exact match
17 - absence of hyphens to split words between lines, c/w 1970's typewriter.
18 - 5000 Longmont #8 in Houston Tx. does not exist
19 - Box 34567 is suspicious, at best. The current use of the po box 34567 is Ashland Chemical Company, A Division of Ashland Oil, Incorporated P. O. Box 34567 Houston
20 - it would have been nearly impossible to center a letterhead with proportional spacing without a computer.
21 - Bush's grade would "normally" be abbreviated "1Lt" not "1st Lt"
22 - Subject matter bizarre
23 - Air Force did not use street addresses for their offices, rather HQ AFLC/CC, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH 45433.
24 - kerning was not available
25 - In the August 18, 1973 memo, Jerry Killian purportedly writes: "Staudt has obviously pressured Hodges more about Bush. I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job." but General Staudt, who thought very highly of Lt. Bush, retired in 1972.
26 - Language not generally used by military
27 - Not signed or initialed
28 - Not in any format that a military person would use, e.g. orders not given by Memo.
29 - Document has background marks all over the place, and looks to be copies of copies with repeatable marks.

When Tereeza was telling us that you have to be stupid to believe Bush, was this the kind of stupid she meant? Or did she not get the memo?

**
And McAuliffe says, "The seriousness of the charges is more important than the documents that reference them."**

Have you considered some other similarities this document episode has with the illegal leaking of the Clarence Thomas FBI files that lead to Anita Hill?

That leak was illegal. Nina Totenberg was the recipient of the leak. No leaker was ever identified, but it was widely speculated that a Kennedy assistant was behind the leak. Despite that fact that an illegal act had brought the info to light, the dems and the MSM pressed forward to smear Clarence Thomas with the information.

Maybe the same tactic was tried again by Kennedy/Kerry? Heck, nothing illegal about this disclosure, and once Rather reports it, the story will be out there to be discussed and pursued, and the actual source won't be an issue.

Or so they hoped.

I love it when people do that. I'm using correct English grammar. I don't know the gender, so the default is always 'he'.

Good Point! I spent just over one year in the 147th TANG following active duty in the USAF - my service there overlapped with GWB

I have looked at all my old documents (Orders, discharge papers, etc) - and no mention of a Post Office Box - just Ellington

Also on all my papers the officer's singature block with rank is ALWAYs followed by the designation TX ANG

That designation is missing from the CBS documents - just one more reason why thay are faked!!
