Why this hasnt been done and if it has why it hasnt been reported is beyond me. There is no doubt in my mind that it would be very easy to do some research to find out exactly what typewirters were being used at the locations these memos are supposedly from. No doubt there are government records still existing cataloging assets.
And anyone who thinks that a ANG unit in Alabama in 1972/73 was using the top of the line, high dollar typewriters is dreaming that possibly could have done the superscript and proportional font are dreaming. They were most likley using surplus junkers.

My dear AbleChair,
You refer to the forger as a "he".........quite possibly it could be a "she!"

That is what I wondered about. I posted this earlier today:
This issue is creating more questions than answers, so far.
CBS got the Killian docs from a secret source.
Killian's wife says Killian wasn't typically the kind of person who wrote such notes.
Killian's son says Killian wasn't typically the kind of person who kept such documents at home.
Some clarification due to later reports: the documents apparently came from:
Secret Source >> DNC/Kerry Campaign >> CBS
A report yesterday said that CBS had sent the docs to the White House and they were returned. [An FR poster speculated that that was to give CBS cover by saying they got the docs from the WH -- with CBS failing to say they gave the docs to the WH to begin with.]
Secret Source has been identified as a 'military associate' of Killian. So why did the Secret Source have Killian's personal and CYA documents? Killian's son says Killian wasn't typically the kind of person who kept such documents at home.

That doesn't explain that there was no Times Roman font typewriters in existence in 1972.

I would like an investigation into the two AP stories earlier this week that created a Firestorm.
1) The Booing story.
2) The Bush is against Russia striking back story.
How many of us were angry at Bush when we read that he did not support Russia striking back against the Chechnen terror orginazations? I was furious as hell. We only found out later that Bush's comments were taken highly out of context.
And the Booing story was found to be a complete fake.

Wait, wasn't it McAuliffe who said 'the seriousness of the charges is more important than the authenticity of the documents' yesterday?

John Lehman stated he had no idea how his signature got on some of Kerry's documents (located on his website), as he was in Office during Reagan's tenure - in the 1980s.
This was picked up by Freepers and worked on for quie some time. I guess we shall have to get back to that and compare them again (now that we are all graphic experts now)

He cannot count on the press now, they are in the treading water mode. They're in blood-in-the-water mode.
Seriously, the MSM cares about itself first, and, if it was had by the Kerry campaign, they're going to crucify him over this.

A frind of mine came back from the DR with an entire box of Fuente Opus X that he picked up for roughly $250.
I agree Cubans are overrated. I'd take a Nicauraguan Padron Aniverario over any Cuban I've had.

It seems no one could be that stupid, but I wonder. Desperation leads to desperate actions.

"Both are saying that CBS HAS TO COME FORWARD with where they got the papers and who were their authenticators."
I don't think they can. If they did, they would have to admit that the documents came from Ben Barnes and the DNC, and the authenticator was Dan Rather.
To: Integrityrocks
If the docs are fake - then there can be no charges or credible allegations!!!!
Jeez. How ignorant can some be???

Keep yer battle-wits folks, this will not be the reason Kerry loses in Nov. But it does reveal a dud shell (blowback) lobbed by someone, with willing accomplices in the media. CBS is as sullied as the NYT after Blair. Note that did not hurt the NYT in the eyes of the fellow travelers but did with the independants.
To: Pukin Dog
I'm not sure Kerry should be beaten 'like a junkyard dog'. Can you say Torricelli(sp)? Hillary would like nothing better than to jump in about the end of September. Not enough time to question all her past activities.

The forged documents have CBS FAX NUBMER across the top: they were SENT TO the White House FROM CBS before the 60 Minutes show began. The forged documents were RELEASED by the White House, ALONG with OTHER documents that WERE called out by a FOIA request.
I knew the CBS docs got to the White House via CBS. I didn't know that the FOIA request was satisfied out of the WH, in fact, I think it was not. The FOIA request was handled by the Pentagon, and the WH was reported to be miffed becuase the "dribs and drabs" made it appear as though teh WH was holding stuff back, when it wasn't. The Pentagon was sheepish and apologetic about the late find.
I do like that the WH returned the CBS docs with a generic comment that Bush served honorably, and that these documents represented a partisan political attack.
