COLCHESTER, Conn. -- A church in Colchester was leveled by an explosion Friday morning. St. Mary's Ukrainian Church on Route 16, also known as Linwood Ave., was flattened by the explosion just before 7 a.m., according to state police. State police spokesman, Sgt. J. Paul Vance, said the area had been cordoned off and the highway was shut down in both directions. Vance said there was no initial report of injuries and there was no immediate indication of what caused the explosion. The state fire marshal was called to the scene as well utility company crews.

Gas leak or TROP?
Nothing so far...unless you can find something...I'm thinking they would be able to tell if it was a gas leak. Also, I lived in Conn. Most homes, businesses use oil furnaces....I am wondering. No one seems to be covering the story. Kind of surprising since Fox is in New York..It's probably nothing...but it is a Ukranian church which makes me wonder after what happened in Russia.
I know this church. I have visited it. Its beautiful.
Thanks for this...still nothing. I admit it. I am a tinfoil red stater who is really worried about terrorism. That being said, I have no reason to believe this is terrorism...yet.
It is on the corner of an entrance to a highway. It would be easy for vandals to have entered it. The rector's residence is also on site and is probably near enough to suffer damage.
You know who I mean.
What a pity...it was a beautiful church. I taught in a private school (Ukranian Catholic) and have been to this school because some of my colleages told me about it...pretty area of Connecticut.
Either way it's a reminder of what could happen here.
Neither. It was Karl Rove.
The same thought crossed my mind.
Yeah, the Religion of peace comes to mind...but wait they didn't shoot anyone in the back (especially kids) can't be them.
It was Bush!!!
Ukranian? I have my suspicions but we'll wait and see.
Boy he has been busy first setting up Kerry Campaign and CBS, running the swifties and now this....
Very good thing this happened early on a Friday morning vs. 48 hours from now. Very few people, if any at all, should have been at the church at 7AM. Prayers to anyone and their families who may have been inside the church at time of explosion, i.e., custodian, kitchen workers, etc.
Kind of odd, don't you think this isn't on any TV stations? I saw it once on CNN which made me look for story...then nothing it's been pulled from their stupid ticker.
Very true...if it was ROP then maybe it exploded prematurely.
Was beautiful. It's flattened.
