CBSNEWS LAUNCHES INTERNAL INVESTIGATION AFTER SUSPICIOUS BUSH DOCS AIRED
**Exclusive**
CBS NEWS executives have launched an internal investigation into whether its premiere news program 60 MINUTES aired fabricated documents relating to Bush's National Guard service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"The reputation and integrity of the entire news division is at stake, if we are in error, it will be corrected," a top CBS source explained late Thursday.
The source, who asked not to be named, described CBSNEWS anchor and 60 MINUTES correspondent Dan Rather as being privately "shell-shocked" by the increasingly likelihood that the documents in question were fraudulent.
Rather, who anchored the segment presenting new information on the president's military service, will personally correct the record on-air, if need be, the source explained from New York.

I have no doubt someone was trying to set CBS up with these documents. They're so obviously bogus ( the po box number especially)that only someone dying to change the election outcome would run with them with so much caprice.
Notice how the Dems quickly claimed some high-end IBM typwriter was used-yet had previously said Bush 's NG unit was crap and had outmoded planes.
"This race is tighter than a frogs buns after its been bakin'in the Texas sun, while Ann Richards was singin' "Yellow Rose Of Texas" at the top of her lungs accompanied by a parade of Marichi players who just left the cantina."
Or along those lines ...
Evidently..........amazing, huh?
And quite contrary to what they said on the show last night:
But 60 Minutes has obtained a number of documents we are told were taken from Col. Killian's personal file. Among them, a never-before-seen memorandum from May 1972, where Killian writes that Lt. Bush called him to talk about "how he can get out of coming to drill from now through November."
Lt. Bush tells his commander "he is working on a campaign in Alabama
. and may not have time to take his physical." Killian adds that he thinks Lt. Bush has gone over his head, and is "talking to someone upstairs."
Col. Killian died in 1984. 60 Minutes consulted a handwriting analyst and document expert who believes the material is authentic.
Poor baby.
And I never believed in Karma.
Referring to the original photo on this post, "Can he really sharpen a pencil in his ear?"
I know in J-School we were told to keep our pencils sharp, just in case there was any breaking news. (Yes, this dates me to the dinosaur age.)
Perhaps he drilled through his brain with that pencil over the years.
The great thing is about this and other fake stories it feeds right into our own conservative complaints about the media and more people who wouldnt have saw it before will see it for the first time.
I was just thinking the same thing! I'm so proud to be a Freeper! Thanks to all who persevered today on this, and most of all, thank you, JIM!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This IS SWEET.
Where's that list of "items" Susan Estrich spewed the other day when complaining dems are "too nice" but were now going into attack mode?
"Mr. Sumner Redstone, Chairman Viacom International

I sent a stinging email demanding Rather resign!
Wow....you're right.
I wonder if somebody could ask them why they decided to use false documents about Bush but never bothered to have ONE STORY on the Swifties.
I did not! It was the guys, not me!
This ought to also do wonders for the credibility of the Texans For Truth........ it will also suck up a lot of oxygen for quite some time. I'd like to see a thread that honestly debates and predicts all the ramifications this will have.
That from the Washington Post story.
