NEWARK, N.J. -- Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry has lost his double-digit lead over President George W. Bush in New Jersey and is nearly tied with the GOP incumbent, according to a new poll.

Bush, coming off his party's national convention, slashed Kerry's lead among Garden State voters to 4 percentage points, according to a Star-Ledger/Eagleton-Rutgers Poll released Thursday. <a href="http://www.newsday.com/news/local/wire/ny-bc-nj--bush-kerry-poll0909sep08,0,3304612.story?coll=ny-ap-regional-wire>Full Story</a>. F is for fuhgeddaboudit! Good to see it, especially after all the crud I took earlier this year for saying NJ would be a lot closer than people think.

Gore won NJ by 16 points in 2000.

Other tossups to watch come over to the Bush column:

PA- Gore won by 5 in 2000.

Wisconsin Gore barely won in 2000.

NM- Gore won by .5% in 2000.

NJ would need a 10 point spread to cover the fraud. Most of the polling machines in the urban areas already have the votes for Kerry already loaded into the machines.

Toldya, toldya, toldya. God, I love being right. We are going to win NJ, and WI, and IA, and MN, and PA, and OR, and NM, and probably MI.

Cue Randy Quaid in "Independence Day": "I been sayin' it and sayin' it----ain't I been sayin' it?"

You know, I think that is exactly correct. You should win something for that analysis.

"Bush needs to pierce the Socialist media blockade by making and leading the news - meeting with Putin, going to Florida, announcing new initiatives, etc."

Yeah, Headlines would read: "Bush Visits Florida then Meets with Putin while American Children are Starving"

I think even with this bounce Bush is still down in the electoral college. According to Zogby/Wallstreet Journal site..

It's good to see a solid Kerry state go into the tossup or lean Kerry category. If this pattern continues, Kerry is going to have to use money to defend NJ, which is less money that can be used in OH or FL.

Great. Now we'll be inundated with Kerry ads. I don't want that scum bag on my TV (except to give a concession speech).

Outstanding news. How in the hell does Rasmussen have Kerry and Bush neck-and-neck? This is a profound seachange to get a 16-point turnaround in NEW JERSEY of all places...

I have felt that even with the corruption (NJ has been the most corrupt state government in the country for years) in the Garden State, there is still hope. W and Bush 41 both visited NJ within a week of the 1992 and 2000 elections. Please come back again and again and again. Any other Garden Staters out there should continue to push for reforms in Trenton so that McGreasy doesn't get off the hook and if appropriate is prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Even Joe Piscopo would be better than what we are getting in NJ.

It sounds as if the FBI and Federal marshalls should make a very visible appearance in places like Newark, Jersey City, Camden, etc., at the polls and the county election offices in the urban counties. Barring that, maybe the Ghostbusters should be used to prevent the ghosts of departed New Jersey residents from going to the polls to vote the straight Democratic ticket.

You don't know the half of the fraud that went on here in NJ.

We always looked away at the inner city fraud but Corzine moved that fraud to the suburbs in ways unthought of before.

I have been saying this for a couple of weeks. I am in NJ frequently and EVERYONE you chat with does not like Kerry. In fact, contrary to what the pundits are saying about independents, some have told me that they aren't happy with the economy, but they will hold their nose and vote for BUSH because they feel safer with him.

you and me both! the pundits fail to recognize, after 9/11 a lot of NY'ers left the city and moved to NJ. They brought a serious attitude adjustment with them.

Exactly. I don't think W can win NJ (great if he can though) but this will divert some of Kerry's money away from Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, and PA.
