At least two political beat reporters in DC are working on a story that may prove very embarrassing to John Kerry.
Jim Rassman, the former soldier upon whom Kerry’s supposed status as a “war hero” depends so strongly, has had a very interesting life since he left the Army.
Rassman was a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy for a number of years. While there, it seems he was exceptionally vocal in his protests against gays. He was rumored to go on “fag patrol,” looking for gays to harass and arrest just because of their sexuality. He repeatedly said he hated all homosexuals; they should all be locked up, shot, etc.
Now granted, many of us are not fond of gays, but we are not wearing a badge and gun and using the power of the State to harass one group of people.
Rassman is also a highly placed officer in the American Orchid Society (orchid growers) and has been removed from at least one position there because of his anti-gay antics.
Since gays comprise one of Kerry’s largest and most vocal support groups, the use of a noted homophobe in his campaign could cut Kerry’s support in a group he desperately needs if he has any chance of being elected.
In addition to his open homophobia, Rassman has been known to be openly critical of any non-Caucasian. A friend of his from the Orchid Society married a South American woman and Rassman has been very critical of her, but not to his friend’s face.
Now that the convention is over, this may develop. It may also never become a mainstream media article, but be covered in the “gay” press.
Who knows?????

I would think that being anti-gay and being a male member of the American Orchid Society would be mutually exclusive.
So in essence, kerry may decide to gun his swift boat and yet again send rassman overboard???
Didn't he leave the LAPD under a cloud, some discipline matter?

You know...I don't like this story. I don't want to see Rassman slimed. He did serve his country.

Wow. If Kerry says the right things & distances himself from rASSman....this will be a non issue--at least in the mainstream press.
Is he the guy that had to leave the sherriff's department because he alledgely mollested a woman while in uniform?
