I just found out today Kerry had applied for a college deferment to attend college in Europe (sound familiar?) and was turned down. So he joined the Naval Reserve and was (involunatarily) activated from the Reserves. He never volunteered. His first year of service was on a deep-water boat, far away from hostile action.

Kerrey's years in the Senate are probably best remembered for two things.

1. Being the Dim's lead attack dog in successfully defeating the flag-burning amendment (uh-huh, a war hero like that other Kerry who supports anti-American action/demonstrations)
2. In '92 when running against Clinton in the primaries, he said, "Something most people don't realize is that he's a remarkably good liar."

Now, after his distinguished Senate career, it all comes down to saying "F*** You" to the Swifties. What a proud record.

It was bad enough that Kerry (a Swifty) has brought shame upon the US Navy. But now Kerrey, being an ex-SEAL, has added to it. Sad day for all honorable active, reserve, retired, and Navy veterans, as well as, all present and past Armed Services personnel.

It is beyond my understanding how either can say and do such things. A long time ago, the Navy taught a clueless street urchin the meaning of honor and integrity. I've tried to maintain those virtues throughout my life. Why these guys can't demonstrate at least a modicum of truth is a mystery to me.

Kerry, I can sorta understand; Kerrey, I can't. Oh well, guess it's that bad apple in any barrel thing.
