Political Wire got an advance look at the new Los Angeles Times poll showing President Bush "moving slightly" ahead of Sen. John Kerry "for the first time this year." Bush had the support of 49% of registered voters, compared to 46% for Kerry.
The newspaper's analysis indicates Kerry "has been nicked by attacks on his service in Vietnam."
The "small shift" from last month's poll "is within the poll's margin of error. But it fits with other findings in the Times Poll showing the electorate edging toward Bush over the past month on a broad range of measures, from support for his handling of Iraq to confidence in his leadership and honesty."
Independent voters split evenly, but Bush's "tentative new advantage" seems to be "his greater success at onsolidating his base. While just 3% of voters who call themselves Republicans say they will vote for Kerry, Bush is drawing 15% just over one-seventh of all Democrats, and fully one-fifth 20% of Democrats who consider themselves moderate or conservative, the poll found."
9/11 Democrats. Every Democrat who is NOT with the ABB crowd or those who mindlessly pull the "D" lever out of party loyalty, are going to vote for Bush.
A giant sucking sound...
The implication of this artile is that Kerry would be far, far ahead now if not for these mean, spiteful, negative attacks from the RNC.{snicker}
Neosporin
"Nicked"??!! LOL!
NOW I will believe the LA Times
Ya got to wonder what LA Slimes smoked lately!!!
I just hope that we haven't shot our entire arsenal yet. They are counter-attacking and hitting Bush with every lie you can think of and then some. The only thing they haven't accused Bush of doing is personally sitting in Swift Boat meetings in the White House war room!! I really hope we have saved the best shot(s) for last!!
Just wondering..since Kerry admitted that one PH was not merited..he didn't deserve his early out from Vietnam..so..can we send him back for 8 more months..?
Hollywood will rush to insert more anti-Bush and anti-Republican comments in their films.
not if the swifties have something else their sleeve to drop soon.
If not, maybe. It was a clear admission of being there.
You are right about their last poll, which was thoroughly discredited because they way oversampled Dems. If they did the same for this poll then it means GWB is way ahead. :)
Kerry will put bactritracin on it!
Tis but a scratch!
No, more like a tailwind. If Bush delivers a great speech, he will take the lead for good and never have to look back. The rest is gravy. No wonder the Kerry Campaign is wetting its panties. This wasn't supposed to be happening.
"I called the media. . . . I said, 'If I take some crippled veterans down to the White House and we chain ourselves to the gates, will we get coverage?' 'Oh, yes, we will cover that.' "--John Kerry, testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, April 22, 1971
This means Purple Hearts 4, 5 and 6 can't be far behind.
Kerry's bleeding votes, send him some Neosporin.
while I certainly hope that this is true, the LA Times has been botching up polls for the past three presidential election cycles.
