The President met with members of his Security Council and others, at his ranch in Crawford, Texas. After the meeting, he held a press opportunity, and then provided lunch for the press and cameramen attending.
Pretty liberal huh? I've heard that the Akron area leans very much (D).
How about this? Not scientific but still neat -

Bush Wins Iowa
Iowa State Fair Straw Poll: Bush-Cheney Wins 56% to 43%
DES MOINES, IA - The results are in and President Bush and Vice President Cheney have won the 11-day straw poll at the Iowa State Fair, beating Sens. John Kerry and John Edwards by 3,111 votes. More than 25,000 fair goers cast their ballot at the Iowa Secretary of State booth, which sponsored the poll from August 12 - 22.
"We are pleased and thank the cross section of thousands of Iowans who expressed their support for President Bush and Vice President Cheney by a significant margin at the Iowa State Fair," said Bush-Cheney '04 Iowa State Chair David Roederer. "However, we remind everyone that we are concentrating our efforts on the vote that will be taken on November 2."
The Bush-Cheney '04 Iowa headquarters has been operating since October of 2003 and continues to build upon a grassroots ground game that is over 1 million strong nationwide --unprecedented in modern politics.
Bush-Cheney '04 has now registered over 20,000 Bush Volunteers in Iowa, and has appointed a Bush-Cheney '04 county chair in every county statewide. The Bush-Cheney '04 Iowa grassroots effort, all 20,621 strong, is built on the premise that neighbor-to-neighbor contact is the most effective tool for energizing participation, and support is growing throughout communities and neighborhoods in the state.
The Iowa State Fair, the single largest event in Iowa and the second largest state fair in the nation, celebrated its 150th anniversary this year and attracts a cross-section of visitors from across the state and neighboring states.
Final Results:
Bush/Cheney 14,283
Kerry/Edwards 11,172
Total Ballots 25,455

Neat!
I've been to the Iowa State Fair and it is a fun and outstanding one!
"A forward looking speech!" A slam at Kerry, who is spending all of this campaign time on Viet Nam!
I have to tell you a little story about an astronaut in Houston.
I worked at Life Flight at Hermann Hospital in Houston. It is an emergency medical helicopter service.
We are the only service like that in this part of the state. So, we had an arrangement with NASA to have their astronauts come and do helicopter ride a longs.
The pilots were used to giving tours of the helicopters for patients, visitors, etc, so we called the pilot up to the helipad to give a tour.
We told the pilot nothing more than that because he tended to be a bit of a jerk sometimes. (We were being bad, hehehe)
Anyway, he was in his usual bad mood, so he takes the man, who is dressed in a white shirt and black pants up to the helipad to show him the helicopters.
The man listened politely to the pilot and then asked a couple of aviation questions. After a couple of questions like that, the pilot sort of rolled his eyes. (he hated "amatuer" pilots). He said "Oh, you know how to fly?". The man just said, "Yes, I fly some".
More eye rolling from our pilot, but he asked (sarcastically) "Well, what do you fly????"
Our visitor: "The Space Shuttle"
You should have seen our pilot's face!!!
Then we told the pilot that the man was an astronaut who would be flying with him that night.
It was great fun!
I can vouch for the freeper recommendations. I followed them and my computer is running great.
I haven't been to it, but have seen it featured on Martha Stewart's show....LOL. I've been to MI's and MN's state fairs, which must be similar. Glad your back computing homemom.
You just gotta love it...comeuppance!
Yep. It is a cherished memory of mine! LOL!
I have an F-250 to hold you over until you see his:)
You might get her a CD or tape, if she likes to listen to music, of a great vocal group doing American Spiritual songs with a big emphasis on the shape singing, which I assume is similar to Sacred Harps.
The group is named Anonymous 4. They are a quartet famous for their a cappella singing of Medieval music, which I love. The CD I'm suggesting to you is called "American Angels". You can listen to some of the pieces on the CD HERE We saw them in concert doing the music from the CD this past winter. It was just gorgeous!!
Bumping your link to congratulate JimRob.
Thank you wolfstar.
I think dog's feel proud, not embarrassed during this sort of behavior.
Hang in there young lady. I admire you for what you are doing. I went to graduate school in middle age and it really paid off for me and it will be worth it for you too.
I never heard of sacred harp singing. Sounds interesting. Another thing from the past that's been lost... well not as long as your 100 year old mother lives.
You should record her singing if you can.
I remember going with my much older cousin to all-night singings in Dallas way back in the day. It was the Stamps quartets and a whole bunch of other quartets and singing groups.
People can't sit still long enough now to do the all day or the all night thing. If something isn't over in 30 minutes, we're bored.
I noticed it too, but couldn't figure it out so didn't comment on it. I wouldn't put it past the dork to wear an old anti-nuclear symbol.
What I liked about this photo is the fact that, although he's waving furiously and grinning, everyone else in the picture could care less about the dork. The woman laying on the grass in the background has her back to him. And that's in his hometown of Boston, LOL!
It's individual computer problems that I know of. My computers have been down at work for two weeks, and the one at home crashed and I've been working to rebuild my software. It isn't easy when you don't have a lot of time to work on it.
I know of others who've had problems recently.
Is there anything more maddening? I've always worked where I had tech support on site. "My computer's not working, whine, whine, come help me, oohh I'm melting." Someone always came running. Now I'm self employed. I have to pay someone to fix these things if I can't do it myself, which I pretty much can't. To even read that you can work on rebuilding software gets my utmost respect. :)
My friend's husband took his son to Michael Moore's movie for the express purpose of getting him to recognize the lies and the propaganda in it.
I admire those of you who can actually fix your own computer! I was happy to take mine to the "professionals" and let them fix it. BUT I'm going to educate myself on keeping everything up-to-date so hopefully nothing like this ever happens again!
Imagine the GOOD that could come out of it if those people who took the time and effort to create viruses to wreak havoc in the computer world used that time and energy to do good!
