A new poll commissioned by the National Jewish Democratic Council says American Jews will still vote overwhelmingly for the Democratic presidential candidate, John Kerry, despite US President George W. Bush's policies toward Israel, which have been widely praised by the Jewish community.
The poll, released on Monday, said American Jews preferred Kerry to Bush by a 75 to 22 percent margin. The survey of 817 likely Jewish voters was conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research between July 26 and 28, and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent.
Respondents said in 2000 they had voted for Vice President Al Gore over Bush by a similar margin of 76 to 21 percent.
Exit polls in 2000 showed Gore won 79 percent of the Jewish vote, and Bush 19 percent.
"The White House and (President Bush's political adviser) Karl Rove in particular have expended a lot of resources on this Jewish vote. Just like with Hispanics, they've come up with zero," said Ira Forman, executive director of NJDC.
Matthew Brooks, executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, a rival group, discounted the survey's results since the poll was taken during the Democratic Convention in Boston.
"I discount these findings because this poll was taken right in the middle of the Democratic Convention, right in the middle of a massive deluge of Kerry press coverage," Brooks said.
"We stand firmly committed to the notion that President Bush will do substantially better among Jewish voters than he did in 2000," Brooks added.
Another survey of American Jewish opinion in January found that 31 percent of Jews would support Bush when matched with Kerry, who was not yet the nominee at the time.
The new NJDC survey said 66 percent found Kerry to be better on the issue of Israel, while 34 percent found Bush to be. Only 23 percent of respondents felt the country was moving in the right direction, while 77 percent said it was on the wrong track. Twenty-five percent approved strongly or somewhat of the way Bush is handling his job as president, while 75 percent disapproved strongly or somewhat.
A new national Zogby survey released Monday showed Kerry ahead of Bush 47 to 43 percent. Without Independent Ralph Nader and other candidates the lead stretched to 50 to 43 percent.
You snipped the line of reasoning so as to destroy context because you were already well into making the case for my assertion all on your own.
Since you were unwilling to let me make my case by your snipping away the context of my reasoning, it becomes your burden to prove your assertion that I'm a liar.
I assume by your presence here you aren't a liberal ( oops, there I go assuming again ), you wouldn't hurl an accusation for which you can't prove. I would happily read your reasoning behind your accusation ( your proof that most American Jews aren't hostile to Christianity ) without snipping it to pieces to scramble the context.
OK, cuts and snips and Malakhi might be a liberal. Me too, Im a Jew.
Start here bozo, I believe its your post, with the bold type.

I never could figure out why Jews vote for rats but a couple things that really struck me as clues in the last few years:
The Ashcroft confirmation hearings where one Jewish Senator after another scowled at him while denigrating his Christianity flat out saying he is unqualified for the position because his beliefs were too strong.
The scowling at Mel Gibson with "how dare you make a movie based on the new testament".
There is an extreme hatred/fear of Christians and Christianity among most American Jews that never really becomes obvious until something or someone Christian threatens to bubble up to the mainstream.
That much is fact. I'm sure the reasons for it are more complex than I can guess at. It is ironic that if Christianity met the doom that most Jews wish for it that their own doom would swiftly follow.
............
Make your case. Show me how I'm going to meet my "doom", without your help (you guys really are laughable)
Jewish Senators, only Jewish JC, no Christian Senators, opposed Ashcroft.
Jews, only Jews, no Christians, criticized The Passion
Now, back up your conclusion
There is an extreme hatred/fear of Christians and Christianity among most American Jews
Speaking only for myself, I do hold bigots like Jim Curtis in contempt, but no, I dont blame Christians for folk like you, even Democrat Christians.
BTW, in no way do you represent Republicans, conservatives, or Americans.
Do you mean this one? I was very much in the minority with my position. Do you find it to be "antisemitic"? Keep trying...

The article seems a bit alarmist but after giving it some thought...No religion has survived for thousands of years with a tolerant attitude toward those who want to convert them and seeing that Israel is the only spot on earth that Jews can call theirs ( well, maybe Hollywood...just kidding ), I can understand the attitude. I would expect and hope for the same alarmist attitude to prevail in Vatican City under similar circumstances but their alarm would seem unfair and overblown to the well meaning would-be converters. 91 posted on 08/02/2004 7:38:33 PM PDT by Jim_Curtis
Well, if he did say that, he was only making the same statement that Benjamin Disraeli said in the British Parliament. The quote has been attributed to both men; I don't know which of them actually said it first.
Its like cows voting for Hamburger Helper.
It is like birds voting for the cat
I'll leave post 269 to you!
I may have recommended this book to you before...I have a signed copy!
Lots of tidbits like New Orleans had more Jews than anywhere in the USA outside NYC in antebellum days or that the antebellum South Carolina State Constitution was the first anywhere to grant religious freedom to Jews specifically...and so forth.
I have this one as well....pretty funny!
"I think Kerry would be Carter II, and this is a very bad time for a Carter II. We're lucky enough to have survived the original"
You're so right! BTW, Carter went to Venezula the other day to be a witness to the "voting process" there (reports are already saying the results appear fraudulent, though Peanut Head said he didn't witness any foul play). He certainly likes cozying up with the wrong international crowd, doesn't he?
Interesting, I've seen multiple attributions to Benjamin, 1857 I think. I guess he could have "borrowed" it, or Disraeli could have. Parliament, the Senate, the records must exist.
I'm betting Judah....it doesn't seem like a very wise thing for Disraeli to have said politically.
I bet someone knows....lol....but both are dead...and oddly I think both were alive in London at the time were they not?
Liked the first, I'll look for the second. I would have guessed Charleston (out of ignorance), but New Orleans makes sense.
You are correct in the "Christian" concern of the Jews. With the exception of the Jewish group "Toward Tradition" most Jews think that Christian groups are strongly interested in the conversion of Jews. However that is not the main concern. Jews get brain washed by their social leaders and the Rabbinate who come from liberal controlled schools and become the main source of Rabbis when hiring a Rabbi is done. The temples have liberal lay leadership and they hire the Rabbis from the Union of Reform Rabbis the circle is complete. Conservative voices are being raised more often these days because of the points you cite. But there is a long tradition of supporting the liberal forces who were responsible for accepting the Jew and breaking down the barriers in business social circles. But todays liberals are not the same ones who opened the doors to the country clubs and golf courses.
*cough*Kerry*cough*
And I really do mean we were lucky to have actually physically survived Carter. Here we had a man, at the height of the Cold War, who appeared to think that by disarming and making puppy-dog eyes at the Soviets that everything would turn out fine and dandy in fantasyland. Thank God for Reagan.
Yes, and I'm sure in the same social circles. Disraeli became Prime Minister a few years after Benjamin arrived. Bet they laughed about ole Ben Wade over brandy and cigars.
No, I didn't see you there. I think evangelizing minors sucks, but it's better confined to that thread, also a nasty one from a political persepctive.
It's relatively unimportant, but I think I remember you yapping about Jewish guilt about killing Jesus on the Passion threads, if it's important I'll do some googling and try to find it, but I'm sure you can figure it out.
Look...why should this shock anyone? Non-observant American Jews tend not to care about Israel. Just like the the non-observant Christians and secular europe. Our "Christian" nation is increasingly becoming another europe...Secular! In other words, if Kerry comes to power, we will turn against Israel, just like europe has. Observant Jews and "observant" Christians care very much about Israel. History is one endless example of a "straying majority" with a believing remnant.
It shocks the multitude of morons, including many on this site, who think Jews vote only based on Israel. How else do you justify the age old dual loyalty canard.
I guess you better dig it up, remember to include the context. You wouldn't just leave the implication hanging out there without attempting to back it up, would you?
Just this evening, my wife and I took her mother to an early-bird special dinner in Delray Beach, Florida. The restaurant, Lindburgers, is a favorite among the many Jewish retirees from New York. There were several older ladies there with their "Kerry/Edwards" campaign buttons on. I thought it politic NOT to engage them in rhetoric.
I can't say I understand the mindset that drives them into the Democrat's arms as a block. I debated the Clinton-Monica mess with my ethnic (non-religious) Jewish friend back during impeachment and it was like trying to unflush a toilet. No matter the facts, or argument presented, for him it was "all about sex" but I guess since he was "the other man" in a relationship with a married women (now his wife, incidentally) I guess I should've expected it.
